In 2023, we’ve literally seen some of the best movies to date. From Barbenheimer to the animated film The Boy and the Heron, it’s been a stellar year for moviegoers. Though there’s no doubt 2023 was another year of good movies, it was equally peculiar, too.
Audience have rejected Hollywood tent poles like Indiana Jones, Mission Impossible, and Transformers. Even The MCU and The DCU have seen a dead loss. At the same time, viewers desperately embraced the unique storytelling of Barbie and Oppenheimer.
And this shift toward smaller, better, less political films indicates that the future of cinema still has a long way to go. But there’s no doubt that 2023 was a rollercoaster of a year in Tinseltown’s spotlight, which blended success stories with box office challenges.

List of Actors Who Had Box Office Nightmares

Brie Larson – The Marvels
The Marvels had the MCU’s worst-ever opening weekend at the box office. The failure of the film significantly affected the future of Brie Larson‘s career, too. Tom Cruise – Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning, Part One
Mission: Impossible 7’s box office fell short of expectations due to tough competition. After Mission: Impossible III, it becomes the least successful entry in the series. Not expected, but it was a definite failure in Tom Cruise‘s career.
Harrison Ford – Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny
Another franchise that faced a lukewarm reception is Indiana Jones‘ 6th installment. People didn’t like the idea of Harrison Ford being involved in action roles at his age. They found the film pointless for lacking narrative drive.
