An Interesting Casting Call for Arnold Schwarzenegger

Starting off, Arnold Schwarzenegger was ultimately the funniest actor, but wait, he was not the original choice for the role. There were a number of notable A-list actors who were considered for the role of Detective, John Kimble, but not all of them were of the same caliber.

The production team claimed that Kurt Russell and Robin Williams were once considered for the part, which is intriguing given their completely different styles. Chuck Norris was, however, the most unexpected potential choice. Norris just seems like the kind of badass guy that kids would adore right away.

After Schwarzenegger was chosen for the role, he had a list of requirements for the movie before agreeing to play John Kimble. First of all, he wanted Ivan Reitman to be the director because they worked together on Twins in 1988. Second, he was passionate about promoting the value of physical education and wanted it to be a central theme in the film.

Last but not least, the retired professional bodybuilder also wanted to discuss the dysfunctional families and domestic abuse that many kids experience in silence. This gave Kindergarten Cop a dose of serious social issues that most mainstream comedies of its kind were purposefully avoiding in favor of silly laughs.

The Unexpected Tale Of Elijah Wood’s Audition

Elijah Wood, star of The Lord of the Rings, first tried out for a part in Kindergarten Cop, one of his first possible child roles. Ultimately, he was passed over for the role, but two years later, he did land a breakthrough role in the classic drama, Radio Flyer.

Even though he is one of Hollywood’s most prominent stars, now 42, the road to fame for him was not without its challenges. The gifted performer, who has appeared in a number of big-budget films, was turned down for a part in Kindergarten Cop while trying out as a child actor.

However, the events did not turn out as expected. Given his youth and inexperience, Wood claimed that the audition was the worst of his professional life. But it is also true that his life has eventually prospered, having a successful career ahead.

The Good Son star’s experience is proof that even the most gifted actors may encounter rejection at some point in their careers.
