Every anime series involves characters who choose the wrong path or commit mistakes that cost a lot more than what they hoped for. Jujutsu Kaisen is the perfect example of that. Many decisions, commitments, choices, and unnecessary involvement have led the series down a dark path that increased the killings and collateral damage tenfold.

Mistakes have the potential to be catastrophic failures that result in mass fatalities. Although the majority of failures are not very serious, many of them are. Jujutsu Kaisen’s writers, animators, and directors made several decisions that have left some fans wondering and doubting what the anime and manga creators decided was right for the story but later turned out to be an unforgivable mistake.
There are many examples of that in the entire series that have pointed out the mistakes of the characters and the creators, but three of them have been the most painful and sad, as they have not only hurt the characters but made the story dark, but it also led to an unprecedented amount of deaths in the Jujutsu Kaisen story.
1. Letting Yuji Itadori Live After He Ate Sukuna’s Finger

The literal start of the story was from the part where Yuji Itadori, the protagonist of the series, ate one of the strongest cursed objects: Sukuna’s fingers. However, it was not the mistake in the story. The mistake was the fact that even though he was able to eat Sukuna’s fingers, characters like Gojo Satoru decided against killing him and using him as a vessel to contain Sukuna.
This was the point where every anime fan knew that there were going to be a lot of deaths and destruction in the future as decisions like these never yield good results. The Shibuya Incident arc is the biggest example of that, where thousands of people died just because Sukuna wanted to have some fun with Jogo and later on with Mahoraga.
2. Junpei’s Trust in Mahito Was a Big Mistake
![Junpei Yoshino](https://fwmedia.fandomwire.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/27092221/Junpei-Yoshino.jpg)
Junpei Yoshino was one of the most tragic figures of Jujutsu Kaisen. He experienced bullying and a sense of isolation from the outside world. But he met two people when he was at his lowest. Mahito was one, and Yuji Itadori was the other. Junpei, though, decided to put more faith in Mahito than in Yuji. Mahito made it abundantly clear to Junpei that he did not care about him or consider him to be a friend, but still, Junpei trusted him a lot.
Junpei fell for his deceptive falsehoods. As a result of Junpei and Mahito’s relationship, another Sukuna finger resurfaced, innocent people died, and Mahito’s power grew much more, resulting in more deaths down the road, including that of Junpei.
3. Too Many Powerful Characters in the Story

The biggest mistake that the creators of the series made was introducing too many strong characters in the story early on. Sukuna, Toji Fushiguro, Gojo Satoru, Kenjaku, Geto, etc. were too strong for the story, which led them to fight against each other at some point, resulting in more damage and deaths of the characters and the NPCs. Also, this was a mistake because this took away the focus from the protagonist of the series, Yuji Itadori.
These strong characters have unique skills and abilities and surely make the story interesting, but they hinge the audience with them, and fans get so attached to these characters that their deaths or their being removed from the story for the further construction of the plot causes sadness among fans. The perfect example of this is the death of Gojo Satoru.
