Xbox: Forza Motorsport 7

The previous installment was not as great. Forza Motorsport 7, the successor, was what changed the game for Xbox One. It had amazing A.I controlled game play with 4K Visuals unlike any racing game we have ever played. The way the game makes you control the cars feels realistic and superb. The game progress is also challenging. Forza Motorsport 7 is a game that stands at the very epitome as far as racing games are concerned. It has speed, precision, and lots and lots of high octane entertainment.

PS4: God of War

God of War is by far the greatest God of War game ever built. It is also probably the second most popular PS4 exclusive game, lagging behind the legendary The Last of Us. The game is beyond words. It will render you speechless. The studio finally managed to expand on God of War’s mythology and after a truly daunting attempt, they nailed it. Kratos is no longer consumed with Vengeance. After killing Zeus, he has now become a family man. His wife is dead and he is left to take care of his son. When the Norse Gods come knocking, Kratos has to pick his ax again and go for a God-Hunt. God of War is packed with features and literally every side mission you complete feels like poetry to the eyes. We wish they made more games like these.

Xbox: Sea of Thieves

Sea of Thieves was a surprise hit for Xbox One owners. In Sea of Thieves, X marks the spot. You role play as an up and coming pirate sailing the seas and gathering a big enough crew to loot treasure and become the biggest, meanest, and most infamous pirate of the seven seas. One other major factor that was the reason for its success was that it was Xbox Enhanced. Sea of Thieves is not about one dimensional role playing. You can have a good time with your friends singing sea songs and doing bonfire parties on isolated islands in the Caribbean.

PS4: Horizon Zero Dawn

Horizon Zero Dawn was thought to be another boring attempt at creating a post-apocalyptic game. After gamers the world over have had a chance to try and test literally any post-apocalyptic genre game thrown at them, the ‘entire end of the world’ arena was thought to have become dead and lifeless. Horizon Zero Dawn managed to change that. It had a fresh story arc and the plot was not as lifeless as the world it was set in. In the far future, humanity has started to spring back from a great cataclysm. Robotic wildlife now rule and roam the Earth. You play as Aloy, and your job is to go on hunting missions and gather equipment as well as information to complete your mission.

Xbox: Gears 5

The Coalition released Gears 5 in 2019. The game is a continuation of the events that transpired in Gear of War 4. The Gears of War games are all Xbox Exclusive and Gears 5 is its crown jewel. The protagonist is Kait Diaz, a veteran soldier who wants to find out more about her past. When she was a kid, her mother gave her a mysterious necklace bearing the Locust Horde Emblem. Many older fan favorite Gears characters like Marcus Fenix and JD return in Gears 5. The game has a good single player campaign but also a very capable multiplayer option with well-placed story modes.

PS4: Ghosts of Tsushima

Ghosts of Tsushima is what you get when you combine the game-play of Assassin’s Creed with the open world experience of Watch Dogs or more appropriately – Red Dead Redemption. Ghosts of Tsushima had been one of the most anticipated games of the decade. It is astonishingly beautiful and serene. The game has a lot of side-missions and extremely fluid combat modes. The fights are the primary reason Ghosts of Tsushima was such a huge success. When you combine absolutely breath-taking scenery taken straight out of Akira Kurosawa’s movies and make it into a game, you know you have created something unique and enviable.

Xbox: Quantum Break

We really like Xbox trying to experiment with their games. We were really confused between putting Ori and the Will of the Wisps or Quantum Break here. We went with the latter because of its radical TV tie in elements that are a part of the game itself. You play as Jack Joyce, a super human with powers to control time, trapping his enemies in stasis prisms. Your job is to stop armed mercenaries from destroying humanity and bringing about the end of the world.

PS4: The Last of Us Part 2

Would this list be complete without the most complete, the most incredible, and the most exciting PS4 game? The Last of Us part 2 was one of the last PS4 exclusives to be released. Even though no one really thought they needed a sequel to The Last of Us, Naughty Dog released it anyway and boy were we head over heels when we played it!! The game feels like on Oscar award winning story arc. It has drama, action, humor, adventure and much, much more for game freaks like us.

The Halo series is what the Xbox platform the legend that it is today. Halo 5: Guardians intends to take that legacy forward! While it is nowhere near as great as Halo1 or Halo 2, Halo 5 is still a game that will give PS4’s God of War and Ghosts of Tsushima a run for their money. Halo 5 has focused more on the multiplayer campaign this time. The plot of the game does not have that X-Factor like in the previous installments. But the game’s focus on verticality allowed it to stand out. Halo 5 is more or less a legend and befitting of the revered Halo mantle.

PS4: Shadow of the Colossus

Shadow of the Colossus is a piece of gaming history. It is one of those games you don’t just enjoy but also marvel at the artistic design and extreme attention to detail. The game has a very thrilling atmosphere and creates a rather adrenaline pumped setting for the player. The world building is gorgeous and the boss battles are very engaging. Some would claim Shadow of the Colossus is a bit difficult for their liking but the game still managed to rake in huge numbers. The fans of the games were begging the developers to make a re-mastered version for PS4 and it happened on E3 2017. Shadow of the Colossus made huge splashes when it was originally released for PS2. The re-mastered version does not disappoint and is still fun to play. The Xbox players will not get to enjoy this piece of history right here.
