James Gunn’s DCU has been holding a lot of fan attention despite its lack of updates in recent times. Ever since the actor and writer’s strike ended, updates have been scarce, but big, such as the casting of Lex Luthor.

No casting news yet for Gunn’s Batman project, titled Brave and the Bold

While almost the entire cast of Superman: Legacy has been revealed, updates on other projects have been slow, if not non-existent. However, fans have been working overtime to cast their favorite picks in the hopes that Gunn’s visions will align with theirs. One such casting choice for Batman is Reacher’s Alan Ritchson.

In an interview with Fortress of Solitude, Ritchson engaged head-on with the rumors of him playing Batman. The actor has broken into the mainstream with his Reacher series, with many folks calling the character ‘Batman without a cape’. When asked about the rumors, and how Reacher would fair against Batman, the actor said:

“With all the rumours flying that I’m supposed to be playing Batman, how can I knock Batman? I would love to play Batman”

Ever since Superman was cast in the franchise, fans have gone down a rabbit hole to cast the other main characters in the DCU, namely, the Justice League. Ritchson has been a fan cast as Aquaman, Hawkman, and now, Batman. The actor, with his imposing build, is perfect for a warrior-type character, something along the lines of Aquaman, Hawkman, Orion, or even the new Shazam. He would play a pretty imposing Batman and would allow the studio to cast a more mature Damian Wayne as well, given that the film has been confirmed to follow the story of Batman and Son.

Ritchson cuts a very superhero-esque physique, leaving his choices for superheroes wide open

Alan Ritchson stands at an imposing 6 feet and 3 inches, making him a good choice for most superhero characters. While the aforementioned League members are a great choice for the actor, there are other characters in other universes that the actor could play. Given that Invincible is trying to get a live-action film off the ground, Ritson could play The Immortal with ease. His imposing physique and acting chops could have him play the character with the depth and gravitas required for the role.

If the actor ever finds himself interested in the MCU, Baldur might be a great role for the character. He definitely can pull off looking like a Norse God. He also has the looks to pull off Hyperion, who has a history with the Marvel Multiverse. Another character that the actor could play is the Plutonian from Irredeemable, which is currently in production with Netflix.

Currently, the actor is starring in Reacher Season 2, which is now available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
