In the world of superhero films, each installment brings excitement and anticipation for new characters and thrilling storylines. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was no different, promising to deliver another exhilarating chapter in the legendary Web-crawler journey.

However, amid high expectations, there was an alluring opportunity that almost became a reality, the live-action debut of the enigmatic Marvel villain, Black Cat.

Felicity Jones was cast as Harry Osborn’s assistant, Felicia Hardy, also known as the alter-ego of Spider-Man’s lover and nemesis, Black Cat.

Although the character’s future was uncertain, the 39-year-old embraced the role, relishing the idea of playing someone with an intriguing dual identity. In an interview, the British actress revealed,

“It was more just…I like playing characters where there is a little bit extra to play with and it was just fun to play someone who has this other identity as Black Cat, Felicia Hardy. I just loved the idea of that character, I just think it’s really fun.”

Unfortunately, as production progressed, Black Cat’s storylines were deemed irrelevant and thereafter removed from the final theatrical cut.

Nevertheless, fans can now look forward to the possibility of witnessing Black Cat’s actions in future Spider-Man projects.

The twist in the ending not only opens doors for new storylines but also paves the way for the introduction of long-awaited characters in Spider-Man 4 and future sequels.

Among these eagerly anticipated debuts is none other than Hardy’s enigmatic alter ego, Black Cat. A beloved figure in the Spider-Man comics, Black Cat has remained absent from the live-action format despite appearances in cartoons.

Black Cat’s arrival in Spider-Man 4 could serve as a key turning point for Peter Parker. With the loss of his support system, Parker may find comfort in the presence of this captivating character.

The on-screen interaction between Spider-Man and Black Cat holds immense potential, offering a chance to explore their unique relationship as seen in the comics.

As the ending of Spider-Man: No Way Home resets Spider-Man’s journey, Marvel has skillfully set the stage for Black Cat’s introduction, promising to inject fresh energy and shake up the established order.
