However, she has a condition to join the MCU- to play a “pure villain”.

Isabelle Huppert is known for playing grim and unemotional characters. She can be an interesting choice if the MCU considers her request to play a villain. Films like Avengers: Infinity War and The Dark Knight have proved to us that a formidable villain plays a crucial role in elevating a movie’s standard.

While Marvel has made many superstars like Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, and Chris Hemsworth, veteran legends like Anthony Hopkins, Kurt Russell, and Robert Redford have also graced the MCU with their presence. The Oscar-nominated and two-time César Awards winner, Isabelle Huppert also expressed her interest in playing an MCU villain.

During an interview with The Guardian when the Elle actress was asked if she would be willing to play a Marvel villain, she showed no reluctance to it. Huppert did not shy away from admitting that she would love to play a “pure villain”.

“I would love to! I’d love to do a genre film. It must be nice maybe to be the villain – a real villain, not the villain in most of the films I do, who have a good reason to be a villain. I never get to play a pure villain.”

Isabelle Huppert has a strange inclination towards villainous roles or characters without a sense of morality. Earlier during a conversation with Variety, she also stated her wish to play a “more lovable” Disney villain. Her affinity with grey characters may play a fruitful role if the Kevin Feige cartel considers her wish and gives her a strong MCU villain to play in the future.

However, in some instances, the MCU has also fumbled hard despite casting some renowned stars. Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher is a prime example of how the MCU went wrong with a casting that could have presented us with one of the most menacing Marvel villains yet.

Isabelle Huppert confessed in her interview with The Guardian that she does not consider acting as work– “I’m not sure I feel like I work”. She explained that many people perceive work as a job that they do their entire life without liking it. But as reflected in her statement, acting has always been a subject of immense pleasure for her.

The Story of Women actress shared that she loves acting and can never call it “work”. It has a different meaning to her.

“Sometimes, unfortunately, work can be surviving, it can be difficult. You can spend your life doing something that you don’t really like doing and I guess in this case some part of your brain can focus on something else. But in my case, I have this immense privilege to do something that I love. So that’s why I can’t really call it work. It’s something different.”

Isabelle Huppert has a reputation for never being a shrinking violet in her long filmography. She added that she was never said to be “the woman sitting behind the man, the woman giving value to the man” and so it was always a “conscious choice”. Since the very beginning, the Golden Globe winner wanted to take the central place in her career.
