Leonardo DiCaprio Wasn’t Comfortable With Meryl Streep’s Nude Scene

Leonardo DiCaprio, who shared the screen with Meryl Streep in Don’t Look Up, was initially uncomfortable with her brief nudity in the film, owing to her esteemed stature in the industry. According to director Adam Mckay, during an interview with The Guardian, DiCaprio expressed his reluctance towards seeing the veteran actress in such a manner. At the same time, Streep herself had no issues with the scene.

“But you know who had a problem with it? Leo,” McKay told The Guardian. “Leo just views Meryl as film royalty … although maybe royalty is not a compliment … but as such a special figure in the history of film. He didn’t like seeing her with the lower back tattoo, walking for a second naked. He said something to me like: ‘Do you really need to show that?’ And I was like: ‘It’s President Orlean; it’s not Meryl Streep.’ But she didn’t even blink. She didn’t even bring it up. “

Don’t Look Up is a satirical black comedy film that follows two low-level astronomers, played by Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence, who discover a comet that is heading towards Earth and will likely cause an extinction-level event.
