She is best known for her role as the lead in The Hunger Games franchise and for giving Oscar-worthy performances in several films. Well, she undoubtedly would not have achieved this without earning a sizable salary.

How Much Was Jennifer Lawrence Paid For The Hunger Games?

Many actors would be thrilled to be a part of a film series based on a hugely successful book series, but Jennifer Lawrence was initially hesitant about it. When she initially agreed to be in The Hunger Games, the No Hard Feelings actress was unsure if she would be able to achieve fame as Katniss Everdeen.

She once revealed in 2012 to Access Hollywood:

“I gave myself three days. I knew from reading the books that I loved The Hunger Games, I just didn’t know if it was worth changing my life for. I’m at a peaceful place right now…Nobody’s staked outside my house. I wanted to make sure that when I said yes I wouldn’t regret it. And I don’t regret it.”

She appeared in four The Hunger Games films from 2012 to 2015. Lawrence’s pay increased significantly during those years due to how important she was to the franchise.

The Hollywood Reporter claims that she began by earning $500K for the first film, The Hunger Games ( 2012). The amount increased to $10 million for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013).  Finally, she earned an estimated $15 million each for the last two parts of the franchise- The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 (2014) and Part 1 (2015).

Jennifer Lawrence Lost Millions In Real Estate?

The Upper East Side of New York City is one of the most expensive real estate markets in the entire world. Jennifer Lawrence was able to purchase an apartment in a building from that area called The Laurel. According to cityrealty.com’s description, The Laurel is “designed to be energy efficient and environmentally sustainable”.

The specific apartment Lawrence purchased sounds like a luxurious place for anyone to live, and based on PEOPLE’s description:

“The more-than-4,000-square-foot pad features three bedrooms, four and a half baths and a gas fireplace. The interior includes a chef’s kitchen (with a wine fridge), floor-to-ceiling windows and access to a private terrace that offers sweeping views of the city.”

Nobody will likely be surprised to learn that Lawrence spent millions on her apartment because it sounds so luxurious. However, many would not expect that the renowned actress paid $15.6 million for her apartment in The Laurel in 2016.

Lawrence first listed her apartment for sale in July 2019 after making the decision that she wanted to do so. Even then, she was willing to accept a slight loss because her asking price was $15.45 million.

By that time, it was clear that no one would pay that amount, and unfortunately for The Beaver actress, the value of real estate could change drastically. Lawrence reduced her asking price for the apartment to $12 million in January 2020.

The 33-year-old actress ultimately sold her apartment in August 2020 for an undisclosed sum. But, the media quickly learned that the final selling price was $9.9 million, which meant Lawrence ultimately lost $5.7 million on the final deal.

Jennifer Lawrence was last seen in Gene Stupnitsky’s No Hard Feelings. The majority of the reviews from critics were favorable, and the 2023 film has made over $86 million worldwide.

Anyway, stream The Hunger Games film series on Amazon Prime Video.
