He was seen giving an interview, where he answered several questions about the anime.
Kafka Asagiri on Osamu Dazai and Bungo Stray Dogs
Bungo Stray Dogs is an anime about the “Armed Detective Agency” team working hard to make Yokohama safe from the mafia. It follows the action fiction genre, mystery genre and supernatural genre. The anime is directed by Takuya Igarashi and distributed by Aniplus Asia. Kafka Asagiri is the aithor and Sango Harukawa is the illustrator.

With Bungo Stray Dogs entering its fifth season, Kafka Asagiri was asked about Osamu Dazai. The character is seen in several anime and manga. The Japanese audience is still fascinated with the character. He was asked how Dazai remains so fascinating. To this, Asagiri said that he thinks of Asagiri as a donut. No one can give a proper answer because there is no direct answer to that question.
Kafka Asagiri said, “I think of Dazai as a donut. What’s in the middle? No one knows. That’s something that not even director Igarashi knows, or the voice actor for Dazai, Mamoru Miyano. In the middle of that unknown is the question, “Why does Dazai want to die?” That core aspect about him is why everyone gets pulled into the rest of the story. Although, now that I think about it, are you talking about Dazai, the author, or the representations of Dazai in Bungo Stray Dogs? Because I have thoughts on both.”

Kafka Asagiri was asked which book inspired him to write classical literature. He answered Shusaku Endo and his story, Ryugaku. Asagiri dreams about implementing it into Bungo Stray Dogs. Out of all his characters, he was asked who was the easiest, toughest and most enjoyable to write. With a straight face, Asagiri answers Sigma, Ranpo, and Edgar Allen Poe, respectively.
