In an interview with MTV, the Water For Elephants star talked about how he wanted to know more about the character that he was chosen to play on-screen since he had to depict the most handsome man in the world as per the books by author Stephenie Meyer. But when he was in the US three days after getting chosen for the role, his mother sent him a photo, where he could see a petition from the fans of the literary series who had a very unattractive photo from one of his films and talked about how they did not approve of him to play Edward Cullen in the movie. He said:

“No, initially I did. But my mom sent me some stuff, which she thought was really funny, when I was already in America. They had this picture from this Viking film I did where I looked like someone had beaten me in the face with a frying pan. I was wearing this disgusting wig. And they were like “THIS is Edward.” It was a petition, which they were going to send to Summit saying, “We will not go and see the movie.” It got up to 75,000 signings. This is about three days after I got cast. I was thinking, “Thanks for sending that mom!” That was my welcome into Twilight.”

Therefore, taking a friendly jab at her son, his mother also reminded him about staying humble while striving for and achieving success.

While The Twilight Saga may have been the film that put Pattinson on the industry’s radar, he didn’t let them define his career. Soon after that, the star went on to do several diverse roles in different genres of films, and his latest venture as Bruce Wayne in Matt Reeves’ The Batman was a huge indicator of just how talented and unique he is as an actor.

And now, the star gears up for the future with his newest film titled Mickey 17, which will be a sci-fi drama film that will be released in 2024. Apart from that, the star will also return as the caped crusader in The Batman 2 which has begun development under filmmaker Matt Reeves.
