Payday 3 has been hit by several issues since the game launched last week. Multiple server outages and unstable matchmaking conditions have frustrated the gaming community.
After a few fixes, the game looked to be back on track a few days back, but now the server is offline once again. At the time of writing, there are two server-side maintenance planned, one for today and then on Friday, between 8 AM and 11 AM CEST.
More than a decade after Payday 2 was released, Payday 3 came out on the 21st of this month much to the delight of the franchise fans. The unfortunate server issues were the last thing fans would have wanted after the long wait.
Payday 3 Servers Down Today, Server Shutdown Also Planned For Friday
Developers have released the server shutdown schedule for Payday 3 this week, much to the frustration of fans and streamers who have been looking forward to the game ever since the announcement was made last year. Payday 3 has been out for less than a week, and the game’s server-side issues have affected matchmaking severely.

Server outages haven’t helped the game’s always-online stipulation, ironically. While several fans have shown their frustration towards another server shutdown, many are also quite hopeful about the upcoming fix. Brand Director Almir Listo and Lead Producer Andreas Häll Penninger recently interacted with fans on Twitch, for the first of many planned troubleshooting and feedback streams.
Listo added how he wanted to jump into a stream to apologize to the fans for the terrible experience. The stream aired at 8 a.m. PST, and another stream is planned for tomorrow at the same time. Listo also mentioned plans to evaluate a new partner for matchmaking services while also making Payday 3 less dependent on online services.
Listo mentioned they’ll continue to interact with the community until they feel confident the game has progressed “the way we intended”.

Fingers crossed that this fix actually works.
I think I'll wait till next week to really start streaming the game. I don't want to keep organizing stuff and be unable to matchmake.
I hope things work out though!

Online multiplayer mode hasn’t been kind to most games, but in cases like these where gamers cannot play a game due to server malfunctions, the game gets severely punished. There will be more news about developments made during the three-hour shutdown today when Listo streams and interacts with the community tomorrow.
Early Payday 3 reviews had praised the game for smarter heisting and strong missions. With the developers evaluating every possibility, there’s still hope gamers will not have to wait too long to enjoy the game the way it was intended to.
