Sydney Sweeney is an exceptionally talented and well-known actress. Though she entered the eye of the mainstream media through her work in the hit HBO series, Euphoria, the actress has many other works that showcase just how skilled and versatile she is, with some examples being The White Lotus, Everything Sucks, The Handmaid’s Tale, and Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood. Even though she has been a part of so many massively successful projects, she has been in the media spotlight of late for a completely different reason.
The actress was working on her upcoming film, Anyone but You, where she stars alongside Top Gun: Maverick actor, Glen Powell. Even though the film is a romantic comedy, behind-the-scenes pictures of the two made fans question the status of their relationship due to the chemistry that they shared, even though Sweeney has been engaged to Jonathan Davino, since February 2022. The actress finally responded to these rumors in quite a surprising fashion.
Sydney Sweeney Addresses The Rumors
During a recent interview with Variety, Sydney Sweeney finally addressed these rumors regarding her relationship with Glen Powell as well as their rare on-screen chemistry. The actress started by stating that they are making a romance film together so it would be very odd if the two did not have good chemistry with each other. She added that this type of dynamic is what audiences look for in the protagonists of the films they watch.
“It’s a rom-com,” she laughs. “That’s what people want! Glen and I don’t really care. We have so much fun together, and we respect each other so much; he’s such a hard worker, and I’m a hard worker. We’re excited for the press tour, and I literally just left ADR with him. We talk all the time like, ‘That’s really funny.’”
She then stated that her and Powell are not all too concerned about their rumors as they known what is the reality of their relationship. The two have a lot of fun in each other’s companies and respect each other’s processes, with both being exceptionally hard-working actors.
Sydney Sweeney Does Not Mind This
Anyone but You has gotten a lot of media attention because of this mystery that surrounds the two very successful actors. Fans have been extremely invested in every update that has followed, especially because of the fact that both of these actors were in committed relationships around the time that these rumors started to spread. While many would expect them to be very uncomfortable at this, Sydney Sweeney revealed otherwise.
“They want it,” Sweeney says. “It’s fun to give it to ’em.”
The actress went on to tell Variety that she did not mind the rumors that were going around and the conclusions that the audiences were drawing. Elaboration on this, she stated that this is what the fans want and are clearly looking for so she and Glen Powell do not mind providing it and even leaning into this narrative.
