One of the most popular anime franchises in the world, Naruto, will be celebrating its 21st anniversary on 3rd October 2023. Considered to be one of the original Big Three, Naruto tells the story of a ninja of the same name, who aspires to be the Hokage (Village Head).
Naruto fulfills his dream at the end of the show. And after the anime ends, a new anime, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, starts. It features the story of his son, Boruto. While Naruto is fan-favorite and one of the best anime of all time, Boruto, on the other hand, received mixed reviews.
The alien clan of Otsutsuki was introduced in Naruto. But they portrayed a more prominent role in Boruto. Fans were not happy with them being shown as alien species from outer space. But it was Boruto’s predecessor that foreshadowed it in the first place.
The Chakra Consuming Otsutsuki Clan Was Foreshadowed In Naruto
The first member of the Otsutsuki clan, Kaguya Otsutsuki, was introduced in Naruto Shippuden. Even though it was much later in the anime, she was shown to have come from the space. She traveled to Earth by a flying ball that was glowing while traveling.
Initially, she was portrayed to be a God by the people that found her and gave her the godly name ‘Celestial Maiden’. The fans also believed her to be a God.
But it was not the case. Kaguya Otsutsuki was foreshadowed to be an alien species. The God Tree that appeared to bear the Chakra fruit, came to Earth through a meteorite. And Kaguya came to Earth as the guardian of the God Tree.
If she was a God, she could have easily teleported it to the Earth. It is common knowledge that Gods are multi-dimensional beings. But Kaguya traveled through meteorites and meteors and meteorites are extra-terrestrial and found in space.
There is a speculation that Kaguya can be identified as a character of the same name from the Shinto Mythology. Over there, she is an alien who hails from the moon. Moreover in Naruto Shippuden, she was sealed as the ten-tails and became the moon. It can quite clearly be understood that Kaguya is an extraterrestrial being rather than a God.
Boruto Confirms The Otsutsuki Origin
Boruto has received a lot of negative reviews for portraying the Otsutsukis as an alien species. But Naruto was the one that foreshadowed it. Boruto: Naruto Next Generations has shown a lot about the Otsutsukis and how powerful they are. Kaguya Otsutsuki consumed the Chakra fruit to defend her loved ones from her clan.
Boruto did a great job of digging deep into the matter and confirming it. So, it is unfair to blame Boruto for something that was done by Naruto Shippuden. For now, the fandom has stopped their blaming game and is focused on the 21st anniversary of their favorite anime. It first premiered on 3rd October 2002. It is a day of celebration for the Naruto fandom.
The journey of the gutsy ninja will always inspire us, and while we are reminiscing the old memories, there will always be a tear in the corner of our eyes. For 21 years, we have been part of something greater than life.
