Saying that the Star Wars franchise was a breakthrough role for actors Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher is an understatement. The trio is the foundation of the forty-year-long franchise and has gone on to have sprawling careers after their appearance in the original trilogy.

After spending so much time on set as well as during promotions and conventions, Hamill and Fisher have formed a bond over the years and have often alluded to their camaraderie. Hamill once revealed that the two had the silliest fight regarding Luke Skywalker’s lineage.

Behind-the-scenes drama about the cast of Star Wars often makes the rounds, such as the infamous feud between actors Anthony Daniels and Ken Baker, or the affair between Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford. However, one of the most endearing trivia about the Star Wars cast is the relationship that Fisher shares with lead actor Mark Hamill

Hamill plays Luke Skywalker in the space opera, who crosses paths with Fisher’s Princess Leia. During an interview with The Guardian, Hamill mentioned how devastated he was about Carrie Fisher’s passing in 2016 and spoke about their relationship,

“It’s devastating and I still haven’t come to terms with it. Gosh darn it, I still think of her in the present tense, you know? If she were here right now, she’d be behind you giving you bunny ears and me the middle finger because she was all about having fun all the time.”

Hamill also once mentioned in an X(formerly Twitter) post that the two had the silliest fight over one Star Wars theory. Fans learned in the third film Star Wars: The Return of the Jedi that Luke and Leia were siblings and that she was the adopted daughter of the royal family at Alderaan. The actors themselves got to know about this during filming. However, Hamill revealed that he put forth a theory about Luke’s lineage, which irked Fisher.

“[Our silliest fight was] when they told us it would soon be revealed we were siblings,” Hamill tweeted. “Me: ‘Wait a minute, If Luke is Princess Leia’s brother…does that make me royalty?’ Her: (without a moment of hesitation) ‘NO!!!’ I didn’t really care, but she really, REALLY did, so I never let it go — EVER.”

Carrie Fisher seems to be right as Leia gets her royalty from being adopted by the royal family at Alderaan and not from her father Anakin Skywalker a.k.a Darth Vader.

Mark Hamill And Carrie Fisher Were Quite Close

After almost forty years of knowing each other, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher seemed to have shared a loving and caring relationship. While Fisher had a complicated affair with co-star Harrison Ford during the filming of Star Wars (she was 19 and he was 33 and married), she and Hamill had a fairly platonic relationship.

However, Hamill revealed in an interview with The Guardian that the two did have a moment where they flirted with each other and shared a kiss. After that, the duo seemed to have a more sibling-like relationship, much like Luke and Leia in the films. He said,

“Carrie and I were attracted to one another, but I knew from previous jobs that it would have been a bad idea [to get involved with someone on set]…I remember one time – I’m sure alcohol was involved – we were talking about kissing techniques…Well, next thing you know we’re making out like teenagers!…But the one thing that drew Carrie and me back from the precipice was we kind of became aware of what we were doing and just burst out laughing.”

The duo seemed to have then shared a loving friendship that lasted decades until Fisher’s untimely death in 2016.
