Late Star Wars actor Carrie Fisher had a brief romantic connection with the Blade Runner star Harrison Ford. Actor and writer, Fisher had a marvelous career in Hollywood. Apart from her appearances in Star Wars movies, the actor had several remarkable credits to her name including Hannah and Her Sisters.
Ford’s Star Wars character Han Solo has been immensely popular and fans have a special space reserved for Princess Leia Organa, played by Fisher. The duo debuted in the huge franchise in the 1977 Star Wars movie Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope.
Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford’s Romance
The romantic couple in the Star Wars original trilogy extended their feelings off-screen as well. In her 2016 memoir, The Princess Diarist, Carrie Fisher revealed her brief romance with her co-star Harrison Ford. In the pages of the book, she recollected her nostalgia from the old pages of the diary she wrote as a young woman around the time when she starred in the 1977 movie. Fisher revealed that they had a three-month affair while Ford was married to his first wife. At the time The ‘Burbs actor was just 19.
“My affair with Harrison was a very long one-night stand. I was relieved when it ended. I didn’t approve of it myself. I had feelings for him I loved him and he allowed it,” Fisher wrote in her memoir.
Fisher’s book, however, does not reveal much about the cinematic journey she had on set rather it was the fantasy of a 19-year-old in love with a man with a wife. Oftentimes, she’d long for Ford to come to her arms which was even reflected in the poetry she wrote. But shockingly, the actor managed to keep the affair a secret for nearly 40 years.

No one had any clue about the relationship Fisher and Ford had, not ever their closest peers from the set of Star Wars and any other friends. Her 2016 memoir created quite a buzz, indeed. However, Fisher was also shocked by the people’s reaction as she thought that people were aware of their affair. Speaking with BUILD Series Fisher’s daughter Billie Lourd revealed her mother’s reaction to the people’s reception to her affair.
“She thought everyone knew about it. She’s doing press, and she’s like, ‘I don’t know why they keep asking me about this Harrison stuff. I thought everyone knew?’ I’m like, ‘No, Mom. That was a shocker to everyone.’”
For Billie, it was her favorite book that her mother wrote, it was the raw emotion of a 19-year-old young actor, and she was vulnerable. Lourd also did the audiobook for Fisher’s book and had tears in her eyes reading the original diary of her mother.
