In a recent episode of The Howard Stern Show, Stern asked Schwarzenegger if he ever envisioned himself at one point where he could be president of the United States.

The host also emphasized the law of the U.S. — if you’re born outside the country, you can not be the president of the United States. So, does it ever frustrate him? Over this, the bodybuilder-turned-politician replied:

“It really wasn’t because I felt kind of like everything that I’ve accomplished in my life if it’s the bodybuilding career, if it’s the movie career, becoming governor, setting up my Schwarzenegger institute, all this stuff the millions of dollars that they’re made and everything all because of America. So, why would I not complain about the one thing I can’t do.”

The Terminator star continued that, obviously, he thinks that he would have been a great president. And he also thinks he has the energy and the will to unite people.

Arnold Schwarzenegger became the 38th Governor of California through a recall election to replace Governor Gray Davis. He achieved bipartisan agreements to reduce greenhouse gas emissions during his term by signing landmark legislation in 2006.

The now 76-year-old raised the minimum wage by lowering the state’s unemployment rate and reformed workers’ compensation (cutting costs by 35%). He also invested in improving infrastructure through his Strategic Growth Plan to reduce congestion and improve air quality.

No doubt, with such work, he would have definitely been on the list to become the next president of the U.S. But due to the law restricting outsiders from holding the position. So, that is why he missed an opportunity to be the one.

Arnie also admitted so many people came up to him and asked that he could be their president. So, of course, he thinks about it sometimes.

But he tries to do his things like reading his books, trying to make people’s lives better, improving the environmental situation to make people come together to fight pollution worldwide, and protecting democracy to make sure that people have the right to vote everywhere. So these are the kinds of issues Schwarzenegger fights with, and he feels really good that he’s able to give back to the country.
