The actor Timothee Chalamet once at the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards revealed he auditioned for Spider-Man, twice. During his acceptance speech after winning an award for Best Actor for Call Me By Your Name, he recalled,
“I read twice and I left sweating in a total panic. I called my agent, [UTA’s] Brian Swardstrom, and I said, ‘Brian, I thought about this a lot and I have to go back and knock on that door and read again,’ and he told me the story of Sean Young and how in an attempt to become Catwoman had scared everyone away when she showed up at the studio gates in costume.”
Even though he was rejected for the role, people are now left to ponder the missed fortunes that slipped through his fingers with that opportunity. However, due to the incredible success of Spider-Man: Homecoming at the box office, it ballooned to a humongous number as Holland reportedly received a $1 million bonus.
His salary in Avengers: Endgame, had reportedly surged to $3 million given his exponentially increasing fame at that point. But notably, his biggest payday came with Spider-Man: No Way Home, earning him a staggering $10 million, according to The Sun.

While Timothee Chalamet didn’t secure the role of Spider-Man, there’s no animosity between him and Tom Holland. Their bond grew stronger when Chalamet began working with Zendaya in Dune, and Holland would occasionally visit his girlfriend. He revealed to GQ,
“It was so incredibly valuable to spend so much time with Zendaya and her assistant, Darnell, and when Tom would come to set too. They’re level. They’re good Hollywood. They’re good-energy Hollywood. And then Austin and Florence. I feel like I’m creating a community for myself of people who care about the right things.”
Fortunately for Chalamet, there’s a silver lining as both fans and megastars Zendaya and Tom Holland are in unanimous agreement. And this just might just be his golden ticket to enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
