The legacy of portraying live-action Spider-Man initially belonged to Tobey Maguire. Following Maguire’s three-movie tenure, Andrew Garfield took up the mantle for two movies before Sony collaborated with the MCU to bring another Spidey to the screen, Tom Holland. Holland has now played the web-slinger in three standalone movies and three ensemble MCU films.

While the Uncharted actor’s future Spider-Man projects are unclear at this time, fans have already found a replacement should he choose to step down from the role. Joe Keery, the ever-charming Steve from Stranger Things, has become the fan favorite. A fan art by the Instagram account, @clements.ink, has conceptualized Keery as both Peter Parker and Spider-Man. From the art, Keery is the perfect fit to play Spider-Man.

Keery fits most of the criteria for the role and then some. Keery can easily match the necessary acting range, physique, and comic timing required to play the character. While he might need to work on his stunts to match that of Tom Holland, he adds flair with his smooth long hair. Additionally, he also has a striking facial resemblance to one of the previous Spider-Man actors, Andrew Garfield.

Is Joe Keery As Spider-Man A Realistic Possibility?

In the short to medium term, the answer is likely no. For one thing, Spider-Man: No Way Home has reset the universe for Tom Holland’s Peter Parker and there’s a possibility that he will sign up for more Sony-focused Spider-Man movies. If Marvel decides to bring back Spider-Man in the Multiverse Saga, Holland will continue in the role at least until 2027. On the other hand, Joe Keery is also busy with his projects, including Stranger Things Season 5 and Fargo Season 5.

However, fans needn’t entirely give up their hope, as anything can happen in the multiverse. Keery could still make a cameo appearance as a Spider-Man from another universe, something reminiscent of Sony’s Spider-Verse. It would be a nice touch from the studio to acknowledge the fan desires and bring Keery into one of their projects.

The excitement for Joe Keery’s ‘imaginary’ portrayal as the superhero was through the roof for fans in response to @clements.ink’s art. However, one fan went one step ahead and gave a suggestion to Keery not to bring Steve Harrington into Peter Parker. A valid suggestion, but it comes at the wrong time.
