Gakuto Kajiwara is the voice actor of Asta from Black Clover. He has worked in several other popular anime, including Komi Can’t Communicate, Fire Force, Genshin Impact, etc. A couple of years ago, Gakuto Kajiwara, along with Black Cover director Ayataka Tanemura, gave an interview to Crunchyroll. During that interview, Kajiwara was asked how he landed the role of Asta. His answer shocked the Black Clover fandom.

Gakuta Kajiwara said to Crunchyroll,

“I actually auditioned for both Asta and Yuno at first, but the role I got a second audition for was Asta. After the second audition, I got asked to come again, but when I went for my third audition, I practiced too much and lost my voice. I figured I had no chance of getting the role anymore, but that’s when I got the call saying I got the part. That’s how I ended up being Asta.”

It is astonishing to think that the voice actor for Asta originally auditioned for Yuno. Both of them have different voices and separate personalities. Moreover, the Black Clover fandom is divided between Yuno lovers and Asta lovers. So, this is new information to them. Asta and Yuno are perfect as they are. unfortunately, he did not get the role of Yuno, instead landed the role of Asta. Gakuta Kajiwara is doing a great job as the voice actor of Asta.

The anime went on a hiatus after airing its 170th episode on March 30, 2021. Earlier in 2023, the franchise released a movie named Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King. The manga is also on a hiatus and will most likely make its return later this year.
