With the release of the GTA 6 trailer next month, fans who have waited over a decade for the latest instalment can breathe a sigh of relief. Fans’ patience has indeed paid off and following the confirmation last year that there would indeed be a sixth game in the popular franchise, Rockstar Games officially confirmed what fans have waited so long for.
With a first glimpse at the upcoming Grand Theft Auto game mere weeks away, understandably the expectation among fans has been unprecedented. No doubt many fans will be checking everywhere and anywhere they can find any small breadcrumb of detail about the long-awaited game.
What Do We Know So Far About GTA 6?
Following the official announcement from Rockstar Games, we know we will see the first trailer for the latest instalment in the Grand Theft Auto franchise next month, but what will it contain? As expected, there are rumours and speculation about GTA 6 no matter where you turn, and fans will have to err on the side of caution as to what they are reading up on.
That said, according to a recent earnings call with Take-Two Interactive Software, the game is on track for release between April 2024 and March 2025. Many fans are hoping that it will be closer to the latter date, as despite having to wait longer for the game, they will no doubt have a larger and more in-depth experience.
What we do know so far as per recent leaks, is that the game is set to feature two protagonists and it will be likened to a modern-day ‘Bonnie and Clyde’, with the characters rumoured to be named Jason and Lucia, however, we should point out that this is yet to be confirmed. So given the comparisons to these notable criminal characters, what can we expect?
Players would expect there to be at least several bank-robbing missions and no doubt several car chases with extravagant shoot-outs with the cops. However, you wouldn’t want to end up how the pair ended up, going out in a blaze of glory and a hail of bullets. That being said, Bonnie and Clyde didn’t work alone so we may see a team who back up the the protagonists.
Another question that will be high up on the list of questions that fans have regarding GTA 6 is where it will be based. There have been substantial rumours that the game will see a return to Vice City, but that the map will be substantially bigger than GTA V.
Given that Los Santos was substantially larger than San Andreas, it seems logical that the map size would increase further this time round as well. There’s no doubt gamers would like to see a return of Steven Ogg’s maniacal character Trevor Philips, at least in some capacity in GTA 6.
Who didn’t enjoy his weird and wonderful missions in GTA V? Confirmed to be alive and well, Trevor is no longer in Los Santos and is rumoured to be in Vice City, so there is a possibility that he could pop up at some point.
Fans will no doubt have their own expectation of what they would like to see in the and it is no surprise to see that GTA 7 appears to be trending on social media also. With the news that the SAG-AFTRA strikes have finally concluded, the development of this title could see voice actors returning to studios sooner rather than later.
Whilst we only have a small amount of detail concerning GTA 6, the excitement levels are palatable and it certainly feels like it was, in the run-up to the release of GTA V. Fans have waited patiently for the latest entry into the long-running franchise and Rockstar Games are set to reward that patience with the first trailer next month.
