The Marvels, however, managed to do one good thing in the film. During the end-credit sequence, the movie gave a beautiful nod to the first ever MCU movie Iron Man. And if the theories are not too far off, there could be two ways in which Robert Downey Jr. could return…as Iron Man.

During the finale of The Marvels, Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan is sitting in a chair and a surprising cameo from Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop is seen. The character was last seen in the Marvel series Hawkeye alongside Clint Barton.

The scene shows Kamala Khan stating that she’s putting together a team. The daughter of Scott Lang ((Ant-Man) is also referenced during this scene. The scene is quite important for the future of the MCU since there could be a Young Avengers project in the making. Since the daughter of Iron Man will also be a part of the team, Robert Downey Jr. could easily mark his return to the MCU but…in past scenes.

The speculated project could have scenes of Iron Man teaching his daughter how to fight and plenty of other emotional scenes. The project could indeed be one of the most successful MCU projects ever made if Robert Downey Jr. could return to the MCU. The mid-credit scene of The Marvels also has quite a surprising thing in store for the fans.

During the mid-credits of the 2023 movie, it is shown that Monica Rambeau is still alive but she has woken up in a different universe. Rambeau sees Hank McCoy aka Beast from the X-Men franchise looking at her. This was a subtle way of showcasing that the X-Men were soon going to be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

If the MCU continues to explore Monica Rambeau’s adventures in the other universe, there could be a very likely possibility that the OG Avengers are alive and well. With Captain America not retiring and a universe where Iron Man didn’t die, this universe could bring all the Avengers together if the MCU wishes to.

Although nothing has been confirmed or denied yet, these theories are indeed worth exploring. And who knows, somewhere down the line, Robert Downey Jr. could don the armor of Iron Man for one last time…before it’s over.
