It has been 5 years since Tom Hiddleston’s Loki gave his life to Josh Brolin’s Thanos at the start of the 2018 movie, Avengers: Infinity War. With how heartbreaking the scene was, fans are still trying to puzzle out why Loki had to die.
Well, there is quite an interesting answer to this question. Seated deep into the heart of Asgardian rituals and family, it seems that whoever dies, strengthens his family member during the process. Therefore, it could be a possibility that Loki sacrificed himself to strengthen Thor against the Mad Titan!

Loki Gave His Life Willingly To Thanos For Thor!
In 2018, Loki and Thor escaped on the spaceship from a destroyed Asgard. With Avengers: Infinity War setting off the grim tone by killing Loki at the beginning of the movie in front of Thor, fans immediately knew that things were serious now.
Running forward with a dagger in hand, fans weren’t sure at first why Loki would do something like this. Marking it off as a desperate attempt to kill Thanos, people didn’t actually think anything of the death. Well, a theory is currently circulating around the world and it kind of explains why the God of Stories did what he did!

As per the theory, whenever an Asgardian dies, the person they love gets strengthened. Proofs of this theory are quite evident in the world of MCU as when Frigga died, Tom Hiddleston’s Loki became more powerful. When Odin died, Thor gained higher powers. And finally, when the God of Mischief died, Thor found even more strength to be called equal to Thanos.
Since Loki delved into magic, he probably knew about this Asgardian theory and it could be a very possible reason that he willingly sacrificed his life…to give his strength to Thor. Running with a knife aimed at Thanos was indeed a bad move but considering the intelligence of the God of Stories, we are pretty sure that he had his reasons and this theory indeed works.

Over the recent years, veteran director Martin Scorsese has waged a war against the MCU by not calling it “cinema”. To reply kindly to the insult, in the second episode of Loki, fans get to see Mobius (Owen Wilson) and Hunter X-5 / Brad Wolfe (Rafael Casal) talk about Mobius’ movie Zaniac.
Brad Wolfe defends the movie by saying that it’s an “elevated thriller” and “it’s cinema. Thank you very much,” which is quite a reply to the veteran director. The director of the MCU series confirmed in an interview with ComicBook that the scene was indeed improvised.
“We had Owen and Rafael there that day and were shooting that scene last, and they had the entire day to play,” adding, “So I had first take, I’m like, ‘Alright, let’s do it straight. Let’s do what we talked about.’ Then the second take, ‘Let’s amp it up.’ And then the third take, I was like, ‘Alright, go for it.’ And it was just Owen and Rafael just tag teaming off each other.”
With a high rating to its name, the MCU series currently stands at a rating of 8.2/10 on IMDB and 87% on Rotten Tomatoes. The second season of Loki has been highly praised by the world and is currently available to stream on Disney+.
