Hiddleston’s stint as Loki was met with positive reactions from fans, so when Marvel boss Kevin Feige previously announced that there were no immediate plans for MCU’s best trickster after the Thor sequel, the actor could not help but cry.

Tom Hiddleston Cried At The Thor: The Dark World Premiere

During his interview with MTV News, actor Tom Hiddleston shed fake tears after the host reminded him of his possible last appearance as Loki in Thor: The Dark World. He said:

Oh man, I hadn’t thought about until you told me. I just really miss it, man. You know, it’s been, like, a really good time. You made me cry!

Of course, it was just one of the few tricks that the actor borrowed from his on-screen character. Seeing it could have been Hiddleston’s last Marvel red carpet, he stated on a more serious note:

It’s been absolutely above and beyond my wildest dreams. I got cast four years ago. I came out to LA with some money I earned from British TV in my pocket, I did some auditions, and one of them was for Kenneth Branagh’s Thor. Being Loki has changed my life.”

Fast forward to 2023, Hiddleston finally concluded the second installment of Disney+ Loki. After appearing in several MCU films and series, who would have thought Loki would be given a more glorious purpose? The actor shared in his recent interview with The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon:

It’s the conclusion to Seasons One and Two, and it’s also the conclusion to six films and 12 episodes and 14 years of my life. 14 years. I was 29 when I was cast, I’m 42 now. It’s been a journey.”

Hiddleston further explained what the show means to convey and reflected on his journey portraying different versions of Loki throughout his tenure in the MCU:

In the finale, there are echoes and resonances of every version of Loki I’ve played. I think we all wonder if we’re in charge of our own story. Can a leopard change his spots? Do we have any free will? And in exercising your free will, you make choices in your own life…

Finally, the award-winning actor wrapped up his answer with a thought-provoking question about purpose and happiness. He concluded:

Every choice you make adds up to the picture of your life. And do those choices inform your purpose? And I think all of us, as people, want happy lives, but we also want lives with a purpose. And that’s really what the show is talking about.”

Although fans are quite sad that Loki has come to an end, it was still a befitting finale for one of MCU’s most complicated characters.

Executive producer Kevin Wright gave an update about the possibility of Loki Season 3 via Collider. He revealed:

We wanted to tell this story and tell it well, but even in Season One, we obviously were thinking about where we were going. I would say Season One and Season Two were developed and created as, like, kind of two chapters of the same book.”

It seems like Season 2 is indeed the conclusion to this Loki saga, though Wright left the door ajar for a potential continuation tackling other stories related to the character. The producer added:

We felt pretty strongly, all of us involved, that Season Two was about closing that book but that there are many other books on the shelf for this character and for this world. But this felt like it wanted to be the conclusion of these great things that we set up in Season One. We don’t want to constantly leave people with drastic cliffhangers for our finales.”

It has been an unforgettable journey with Loki, and fans are absolutely craving to see more of Tom Hiddleston’s portrayal of the anti-hero in the near future.
