Billie Eilish has often been seen as a music icon who has been able to resonate with her music with the help of her songs, especially the lyrics. Even with so much fame and fortune, Eilish had a different outlook about her career than anyone else. One that made her believe that her career had long since ended. However, the one person she regards to have saved it is none other than Barbie director, Greta Gerwig. The artist thinks had it not been for her, Eilish’s career would have taken a big hit.
Greta Gerwig Saved Billie Eilish’s Career
Greta Gerwig’s Barbie was a movie impactful not only to those who had grown up with the iconic doll but also to those who grew up making fun of it. It became an absolutely massive hit that was loved by almost everyone. Not only was it an eye-opener to many people, but there was also the fact that it saved Billie Eilish’s career. Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, the musician revealed that inspiration was something that became hard to come by.
“We’d been trying and it wasn’t doing what it usually would do in me. I was honestly like, ‘Damn, maybe I hit my peak and I don’t know how to write anymore?’” she added. “Greta saved me, really, honestly, It brought us out of it and immediately we were inspired and wrote so much more after that.”
She began struggling to write and neither she nor her brother were finding any motivation to write music anymore earlier in 2023. Had it not been for Greta Gerwig, as Eilish spoke, she would have been in a big slump, one she did not know how to come out of. Upon getting Gerwig’s call for the film, both she and her brother, alongside Finneas began writing the song What was I Made For?, one that became a hit.
Billie Eilish Believed Men Don’t Get Body-Shamed
Billie Eilish had opened up about her struggles with body image and how being s*xualized and objectified by men was something she had purposefully been trying to avoid no matter what she wore. In this, she spoke to Variety regarding men and how, as she believes, they do not face such issues. Eilish revealed that because women in general are ‘nice,’ there is an easier way of living for men.
“Nobody ever says a thing about men’s bodies. If you’re muscular, cool. If you’re not, cool. If you’re rail thin, cool. If you have a dad bod, cool. If you’re pudgy, love it! Everybody’s happy with it. You know why? Because girls are nice. They don’t give a f**k because we see people for who they are!”
This comment got her a lot of backlash seeing that it is not just women who go through body image issues. Men get body-shamed just as much and the world is not completely happy-go-lucky for them no matter how much she thinks it to be.
