The 76-year-old, whose last film was Terminator: Dark Fate in 2019, disappointed his fans with his decision to not reprise his role of Trench in Sylvester Stallone’s Expend4bles, which hit the theaters this September. Meanwhile, his other anticipated action flick, Kung Fury II has also failed to release this year after being caught up in legal problems.
Michael Fassbender Gives an Update on Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Kung Fury II
David Sandberg earned plenty of accolades for his 2015 short film Kung Fury featuring Michael Fassbender. Sandberg directed as well as starred in the movie, portraying Kung Fury, a martial artist who decides to travel back in time to kill Kung Fuhrer.

In 2018, it was confirmed Sandberg is developing a feature-length movie as a sequel to his short film with Arnold Schwarzenegger on the board, much to the excitement of the Terminator star’s fans. However, all that excitement has slowly waned due to uncertainty over the movie’s release. It was initially scheduled to hit theaters in 2023.
Now, Fassbender, who joined hands with Sandberg for the sequel, has provided another frustrating update on Schwarzenegger’s movie.
During the promotion of his new film, Next Goal Wins, the 46-year-old talked about different projects he has been involved in during an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. As he mentioned Kung Fury II, the host Josh Horowitz interrupted and asked, “What’s going on?” with the action-comedy project. Fassbender replied:
“I think there’s just some legal wranglings going on there, but hopefully it will see the light of the day.”
Fassbender failed to provide any more updates regarding Kung Fury II’s status but did praise Sandberg, who paid homage to 1980s martial arts and police films with his initial Kung Fury take.
Arnold Schwarzenegger to End Big-Screen Break With Breakout
As things stand, it seems Schwarzenegger’s comeback to the big screen after a four-year break will happen in Breakout.

Earlier this year in April, it was confirmed the bodybuilder-turned-actor would lead the action thriller as Terry Reynolds, who makes a daring jailbreak to rescue his stepson after he’s framed and sentenced to 25 years in a foreign prison. Expendables 4 director Scott Waugh has been roped in to shape the story.
Frustratingly, around the same period, Schwarzenegger broke the hearts of his fans by confirming that the sequel to the 1988 comedy Twins, Triplets wouldn’t be happening despite his and Danny DeVito’s willingness to do the movie.
