Billie Eilish Slammed Masculinity and Spoke About Power

The American singer Billie Eilish is quite upset with the growing abuse and misconduct against women in society. Pointing out that toxic masculinity is the root cause for such atrocities, the singer slammed s*xist excuses that are often made to defend male predators. Speaking with British Vogue, Eilish went to the bottom of it.

I really think the bottom line is, men are very weak. I think it’s just so easy for them to lose it. ‘You expect a dude not to grab you if you’re wearing that dress?’ Seriously, you’re that weak? Come on! Go m*sturbate!”

Noting the staggering prevalence of s*xual misconduct, Billie Eilish noted that there’s not one woman who hasn’t experienced something weird or straight-out abuse from men. “I don’t know one girl or woman who hasn’t had a weird experience, or a really bad experience,” she shared.

Further adding that women aren’t the only vulnerable ones to face abuse at the hands of men, Billie Eilish added young boys to the list of victims. The singer later claimed, with power comes responsibility and when men are given the higher authority in society, it is their responsibility to not take advantage of that power to undermine another individual. Eilish ended her comments by stating how she wants to see changes in society, since “change is one of the best gifts in the world.”

While the Grammy winner stood in support of women and spoke out against the atrocities that women face on a daily basis, she later made headlines for her tone-deaf comments on male body shaming. According to recent reports, Billie Eilish turned into the “Bad Guy” after her remarks during a Variety interview. 

Nobody ever says a thing about men’s bodies. If you’re muscular, cool. If you’re not, cool. If you’re rail thin, cool. If you have a dad bod, cool. If you’re pudgy, love it! Everybody’s happy with it. You know why? Because girls are nice. They don’t give a f—k because we see people for who they are.” Eilish stated.

This particular comment got the singer brutally slammed online, as several netizens voiced their disagreement and labeled her as “tone-deaf”. Billie Eilish previously opened up about struggling with her body image and hating her body while growing up. So now, online communities are criticizing Eilish for her double standards.

Following the controversy that sparked after her comments on male body shaming, media outlets, and netizens began digging and pulling out several of her previous remarks. According to those reports, Billie Eilish has once expressed frustration with being s*xualized, while other times she claimed that being s*xualized didn’t bother her.
