Deadpool is one of the most well-known and notorious characters in the entirety of the Marvel ethos, whether it be in games, movies, or comic books. The Merc with a Mouth found success in comics and games, but it took him until 2016 to finally become a success on the Silver Screen, with Deadpool (2016). Interestingly enough, test footage for the character leaked two years prior and Rob Liefield has now admitted Fox knows who the leaker is.
Deadpool (2016) starred Ryan Reynolds as the titular antihero, who had a penchant for chimichangas and mayhem. It almost immediately catapulted Reynolds to the top of Hollywood and redeemed him, considering the fact that he also portrayed Deadpool in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which was hated by fans and critics alike.

Rob Liefeld Claims Fox Knows Who Leaked The 2014 Deadpool Test Footage
Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld is a big name in the industry for good reason. He also talked about the person who leaked the original Deadpool test footage without revealing their identity. The concerned leak played a pivotal role in bringing the character to the big screen.
While speaking to ComicBook.com, Rob Liefeld reflected on the origins of the Deadpool movie franchise. When about whether he now knows the identity of the individual who leaked the original Deadpool test footage, Liefeld made it clear he knows and wouldn’t reveal who. He added that Fox also knows the identity of the person.
“I do, and I’m not going to say it. Fox knows who leaked that [Deadpool] footage!” Liefeld stated with confidence. “They know who leaked that footage. They don’t not know, okay? But I’m not going to be the one [to say].
It did the job. It showed Fox that they were sitting on something that people really wanted.”
The rest is truly history as the first Deadpool film’s success helped usher in a whole new era for the superhero movie genre – a rated-R future mostly. Naturally, fans are eagerly waiting for Deadpool 3 as well now.

After all, the movie will feature all the classic Deadpool characters and even some new ones such as Dogpool, as confirmed by Ryan Reynolds himself. Deadpool 3 will also be the first-ever Rated T movie in the MCU, which has also resulted in considerable hype. The film is set to release on July 26, 2024, and it remains to be seen how the movie will be received by fans and critics alike.
