Fairy Tail is one of the most cheerful anime. But that does not stop it from having a few of the best fights. The magic, power of friendship, dragons, etc., make its color palette quite amusing for people who are new to anime. With more than 300 episodes, Fairy Tail boasts a strong plot and works as an inspiration to modern anime.
One of the modern anime that Fairy Tail has inspired is Chainsaw Man. It is pretty standard to think that a magical anime can inspire a dark and bloody anime, but this is the truth. To be more precise, one of the important characters from Chainsaw Man was inspired by another important character of Fairy Tail. The character in the talk is Aki Hayakawa, and Gajeel Redfox inspires him.
Gajeel Redfox inspires Aki Hayakawa
Gajeel Redfox was introduced as an antagonist in Hiro Mashima’s magnum opus. He was a member of the Phantom Lord guild, who directly opposed the Fairy Tail guild. Even though he was introduced as an antagonist, he was not evil at heart. After Natsu Dragneel was defeated in a fiery battle of Dragon-Slayer magic, the master of the Fairy Tail guild, Makarov, took him in, and he became one of the critical members of the guild.
Eventually, he and Natsu Dragneel became allies, but their competitiveness and rivalry towards each other always prevailed. This particular friends-yet-rivals policy has inspired Aki Hayakawa to have the same kind of relationship with Denji. They worked together as Devil Hunters but were always looking to do better than the others while hunting Devils.
More Similarities between Chainsaw Man and Fairy Tail
Aki Hayakawa’s similarity with Gajeel Redfox will shock several anime lovers. No one could see this coming from a mile away. Even though Aki was never Denji’s mortal enemy, it can be said that the duo was a fierce ally. Another uncanny similarity between the brunettes are both guides their hot-headed and goofy ally.
Natsu and Denji are types of people who instead of analyzing a situation, they would jump right into it to save their friends. On the other hand, Aki and Gajeel, even though a bit rough, have a sense of analyzing a situation. It is nothing new when it comes to similarities between anime. Mangaka take inspiration from one another and use it in their work.
Not only similarities but sometimes mangaka get inspired by a character and create one that is the complete opposite. While some are known, others need to be discovered. It is great to see how old anime inspired modern anime by setting a path.
