Mark Wahlberg on Playing a Superhero On-Screen

Talking about venturing into the superhero genre, Mark Wahlberg shared that the superhero-like role that he would like to play is the Six Million Dollar Man. During his conversation with CinePop, the actor shared that he does like the idea of saving the day in a spandex costume.

“I like them enough,” he said of superhero movies before adding, “It’s just that for me, personally, as an actor, I would have a really hard time walking out of my trailer with a cape on and a spandex suit.” However, there is a superhero-like character that he has been preparing really hard to play.

The Family Plan actor has been associated with a cinematic adaptation of the classic TV series starring Lee Majors, The Six Million Dollar Man, since 2014. Talking about the movie, Wahlberg said, “But that being said, I was working really hard to bring The Six Million-Dollar Man to the screen.”

The series follows a test pilot, Steve Austin, who is rebuilt using the latest bionic technology after suffering a near-fatal accident. In a recent interview with Collider, actor Mark Wahlberg shared an update related to the film adaptation of the 1970s TV series titled The Six Billion Dollar Man. “I think there is finally hope for that to happen,” he said, adding that hopefully, the production house, Skydance, will soon have the rights, and they can start working on the film. “So, I’m still not out of the fight, I’m still grinding every day to get it made. You know, its tough to get certain things made it’s very difficult, it was an uphill battle, but I think certain ones are worth just seeing through to the end.”

Having been announced almost a decade ago, the movie has made very little progress. Multiple directors have reportedly been attached to the project as well. However, with the actor sharing the latest update, fans could expect more positive news related to the project in the future.
