Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 was probably one of the best anime shows of 2023. Even though there was an impending controversy with MAPPA Studios, and at one point, it looked like Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 would be left unfinished, everyone worked hard and delivered it to utmost perfection. The Hidden Inventory arc was lighthearted, and the fans thought it would be a happy 24-episode.

But soon, the anime took a dark turn, and everything went south. People died like flies. After season 2 wrapped up, people were still not over the deaths of their favourite characters, especially Nanami Kento. Nanami’s death was like an arrow through the heart. He was brutally murdered by Mahito, and Yuji Itadori had to witness the whole thing. The Jujutsu Kaisen fandom wants him back, but that wish remains unfulfilled.

Nanami Kento is one of the most loved characters in Jujutsu Kaisen. He is a jujutsu sorcerer but left jujutsu sorcery when his close friend Haibara was killed. Nanami opted for a job but did not enjoy it. His passion was jujutsu sorcery. Ultimately, when Satoru Gojo asked him to look after Yuji Itadori, he could not refuse his call of duty, which he so passionately missed. Unfortunately, his passion would prove to be fatal for him.

During the Shibuya Incident arc, he, along with Maki Zen’in and Naobita Zen’in, were cursed. After killing them all, suddenly Jogo appeared and used his fire ability to injure the three of them. Nanami somehow managed to escape, but half of his body was burned, and he could hardly keep himself straight. After reaching the Shibuya station, he encountered a horde of transfigured humans and killed them all in that state.

Nanami knew that he would die, and his thoughts turned into reality when Mahito came to Shibuya station. Without wasting any time, Mahito asked him his last words. Nanami Kento imaged walking around the Kuantan beach in Malaysia. He wanted to settle there after his retirement. Unfortunately, Yuji Itadori had just about reached the station. Nanami imagined that Haibara was in front of him and was going to say something and then saw Yuji.

He thought to himself that he needed to be careful with his words, otherwise he might put a curse on Yuji. So, he looked at Yuji, smiled, and said, “You got it from here.” Then Mahito used his Idle Transfiguration technique and killed off Nanami by blasting his upper body. It was a bloodbath. Thus ending the journey of Nanami Kento in Jujutsu Kaisen.

Nanami Kento Won’t Come Back In Jujutsu Kaisen

Nanami Kento’s death was one of the most brutal and hurtful deaths in Jujutsu Kaisen. He was such a lovable character. Even though there is a concept of the Reverse Cursed Technique, which can heal or bring back people from death, it won’t work on Nanami. One of the most crucial things about the technique is that the brain needs to be intact for it to work. But Nanami had everything destroyed above his waist. Moreover, he could not use the Reverse Cursed Technique.

If someone who can use the Reverse Cursed Technique was present at the sight, he could have tried to save him. Like when Yuta Okkotsu killed Yuji Itadori and brought him back to life in the next instant. The best scenario to save him was when he was half burned, while he was still conscious. But nothing happened, and out of all the people, Yuji Itadori was the one to witness it all. He could do nothing but stand and watch the whole thing. Nanami Kento is gone for good, and nothing can bring him back.
