Elden Ring’s success is nothing short of phenomenal, considering how millions of players have traversed through the Lands Between. FromSoftware’s open-world experience has kept a high benchmark for single-player games that dive into all kinds of adventures and threats present in a bewildering open world. And, before DLCs for the game arrive, it seems that the player base has shot up once again.
Shadow of the Erdtree is an expansion to the base game that’s coming soon, and there’s also a hint at another DLC the game might receive. In the meantime, the hype for the same has resulted in more and more players joining Elden Ring.

At the time of writing, SteamDB has given us an impressive look at how many players are enjoying Elden Ring. More than 35k players are immersed in the experience at the moment, and the game just saw a peak of 73,223 players in a 24-hour window. 2 years ago, the all-time peak for the game was at 953,426. Those are mighty numbers!
This may seem a little strange to gamers who are used to playing a game’s campaign and then never looking back. But, the open-ended nature of Elden Ring makes its highly replayable. Furthermore, the content and depth to the game keeps the title fresh and inviting, regardless of how many times you may have beaten it.
At present, Elden Ring’s Steam page holds ‘very positive’ reviews. Many players claim how the game is a great culmination of all the games that came before. FromSoftware, as a studio, has the habit of innovating its games through new mechanics and quality of life improvements. However, Elden Ring stands as one of the highest selling games from the company.
Furthermore, the game’s active online community helps new players ease into the game as well as share funny and impressive gameplay every now and then.

Now that we’re aware of upcoming expansions and perhaps even a cycle of continued content drop, it’s likely that the game will retain its huge playerbase going forward. This was somewhat true in the context of Dark Souls 3, and it won’t be surprising to see a similar narrative with Elden Ring.
Based on speculation, the first DLC has already been in the works for over two years now, and will be around 20 hours in length. The base game itself is around 70-80 hours of playtime, and if you haven’t tried the game before, you’re in for a treat!
While we don’t have official information regarding the DLC’s storyline, characters or any new additions, it’s not tough to imagine the amount of content we can expect. Elden Ring boasts 308 weapons with multiple character builds to master and enemy types to go against. This will only get better with new expansions.
Also, do keep in mind that the player base stats are for Steam. There are thousands of players on multiple platforms like PlayStation and Xbox. With several ways to play and all that there’s to dive into, Elden Ring is surely here to keep the attention of players for years to come. Or, at least until we see the next big title from FromSoftware.
