John Cena’s Old Rival Wants to Take Him on at Wrestlemania

Most of the Dwayne Johnson and John Cena rivalry took place outside of the WWE stage, with both superstars seemingly preferring their mics to bring each other down instead of using their respective signature submission moves.

That wasn’t the case with the fierce rivalry between Randy Orton and Cena. Their engrossing storyline started in 2007 when Orton attacked the WWE Champion Cena after his match. The pair then went on to face each other numerous times until 2014.

As Cena steadily started focusing on Hollywood cameras, their rivalry lost its appeal and WWE bosses started selling other storylines. However, Orton still harbors hopes of facing his old foe.

The 14-time World Champion appeared on WWE’s The Bump, wherein he revealed his desire to take on Cena. He said:

“A dream match for me would be to somehow find myself in a situation where I’m fighting Cena at WrestleMania for the title. Now, I don’t know how you get there.”

While Orton would like to revisit the old days, Cena is contemplating the idea of saying goodbye to his professional wrestling career.

What John Cena Has Said About His Wrestling Future

The Barbie star has enjoyed a good run in Hollywood in recent years, with his starring role in James Gunn’s Peacemaker earning plenty of encouraging reviews.

However, his recent success in the industry isn’t the reason why Cena is considering closing the most important chapter of his professional life. Instead, it’s the demand of his body, which has gone through so much since 1998.

“I turned 47 this past year and I don’t have much time left in the WWE,” Cena told PEOPLE.

The Peacemaker star added he started thinking about an exit strategy when he hit the 45 mark and he’s currently working on that. We don’t know how reasonable the idea is, but there’s no doubt millions of WWE fans would love to hear You Can’t See Me catchphrase one last time with Orton at the opposite end.
