Even the doctor threw amputation on the table as an option, making Truth worry about losing not just his career but a whole leg. The doctor said to him:
“Just remember the doctor never would give me a high-five. He was like, ‘We gotta get this under control. If we can’t get this under control, I’m gonna have to think of the options. He was straight shooting with me: ‘You’re in the woods big time. We have to get this under control.’ Like, it wouldn’t heal. It would not heal.”
The What’s Up? singer also discussed wearing a wound VAC for six weeks and dealing with a PICC line. Stitches came through his knee on their own, leading to a third surgery. Yet, the infection was still there, so he had to get another PICC line. The WWE wrestler added:
“He [doctor] said, the other option was amputation. You know what I’m saying? So to go from doing the 24/7 [title] stuff, running around, doing things with my kids, to NXT, me and Grayson Waller tearing it down, and doing things to like stopping and then getting told this? It was a big reality check, man. It was a pump the brakes moment.”
He spent months battling infections, undergoing surgeries galore, and discovering a bacteria and hole in his knee that caused the infection “along with MRSA, staph & their cousins & kinfolks.” That’s how he avoided needing an amputation.

Dwayne Johnson‘s former rival, Ronnie Aaron Killings, said that hitting the gym again was a game-changer for him. Not just physically, but it also gave a major lift to his mental well-being after all those complications.
After a year-long hiatus, Truth made a comeback at Survivor Series 2023. Since then, he’s been in the WWE Raw spotlight as part of a story with The Judgment Day.
He teased an earlier-than-expected return to WWE after tackling two surgeries.
