The lore and backstory for the award-winning Elden Ring remains a masterpiece in terms of direction and storytelling aspects. And while many would think the journey of our tarnished character is now over, except for the upcoming DLC, it can not be further from the truth.
Many believe that the game is a spiritual successor to FromSoftware’s previous Dark Soul series, and it only makes sense now to release a sequel to the game. This might be coming true soon, as many fans have overlooked this one little hint given by Hidetaka Miyazaki himself.
The speculation is purely based on a statement given by the director of the game in Elden Ring’s Book of Knowledge Volume 2, which was released last year in July.
Did Hidetaki Miyazaki Hint At A Sequel For Elden Ring?
Shortly after the release of the above-mentioned Book of Knowledge, users on social media platforms began pointing out what seemed to be a hint for an upcoming sequel for Elden Ring in the aforementioned book.
Stating about the lore of the game, Hidetaka Miyazaki stated:
“Some Lore Bit clarifications and reveals are being saved for future games”
There is a slight possibility that Hidetaka Miyazaki might have been referring to the upcoming DLC instead of hinting at a sequel, but fans hope otherwise. A sequel to the title would possibly result in a trilogy, as observed before with the studio’s previous games.
While the release of an Elden Ring sequel remains undisclosed, what we are sure of is the imminent release of the upcoming Shadow of the Erdtree DLC soon enough.
When Is Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC Finally Coming Out?
FromSoftware has not had enough courtesy to disclose much about the upcoming extension of the game and keeps fans around the globe waiting. However, the sole key art that was released alongside the announcement along with a few hints has given fans enough to come up with their theories for what is about to happen.
The key art, which was released alongside the announcement on Twitter, reveals what seems to be the character of Miquella on a steed looking towards a burned-down ErdTree, likely due to the events of Elden Ring.
The coming DLC is rumored to be focused on the character of Miquella, the twin brother of Malenia and the son of Queen Marika. Right now he is stuck in a cocoon back at Mohgywn’s palace, but it is predicted he will soon come out of it and will head towards the burned-down Erdtree to claim the powers of the Elden Ring for himself.
Fans have even predicted a possible release timeline for the upcoming DLC, guessing that it will be released in late February, near the second-anniversary celebration of the game.
