While FromSoftware’s Elden Ring is a masterpiece, it also remains a game of mysteries at the same time. Hidetaka Miyazaki’s genius in constructing the game has led to purposefully leaving a lot of gaps in the story, along with hints on how to fill them.
One such mystery that remains in Elden Ring is about the two different moons that could have been observed when the game was initially released. It was not until a week after the game’s release that the second moon was taken out from the files, leaving players wondering forever what purpose it served to begin with.
While it may not seem significant at first, moons in this world seem to play a major role when it comes to the main storyline. This can be noticed by looking at the shardbearer boss, Rennala of the full moon and her daughter, Ranni.
Mystery Of The Second Moon In The World Of Elden Ring
Many players who have been enjoying the game since the very first day it was released pointed out how one of the two moons was nowhere to be found. It is argued that the addition of a second moon might have been a mistake by the developers, however, the symbol of two different moons also being present when you open the map hints otherwise.
The clock that is found in the lower right corner of the map once you open it tells the players about what time is it of the day. Observing with a little more focus on this clock during nighttime would lead to one finding two different moons, with one being a crescent moon and the other one being a full moon.
Another interesting detail to be noticed in this particular clock is how celestial elements such as the moons or the sun are depicted with facial expressions, hinting towards how they are not just inanimate objects and are likely to play a role in the storyline. Fans hope that they will get to know more about this in the upcoming Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.
Will We Get To Know More About The Mystery Of Moons In The Upcoming Shadow Of The Erdtree DLC?
FromSoftware, the developing studio for the game, has not released much about the upcoming DLC except for an announcement in February last year. Fortunately, this announcement also brought with itself a key art that gives a little insight into what we might get to see in the coming extension for the game.
The Key Art depicts what seems to be the character of Miquella on a steed looking towards the burned-down Haligtree. It is believed that he will set out on a journey to finally get rid of his and his sister Malenia’s curses that they were born with.
Fans of the game around the globe have also speculated a release timeline for the said DLC, claiming that it should be released towards the end of February, near the celebration of Elden Ring’s second anniversary.
Elden Ring is available to purchase on Steam.
