Madame Web’s insensitive dialogue hurts the feelings of fans all around the world

Uncle Ben has been one of the most instrumental figures in Spider-Verse for years now as he is the main reason for Peter Parker becoming Spider-Man in the first place. Although the character dies quite early in every movie or series he is a part of, he is still an integral part of the franchise.

Madame Web revolves around the origin story of Cassie Webb aka Madame Webb portrayed by Dakota Johnson in the movie who has the powers of a clairvoyant. Cassie Webb was a paramedic and used to work alongside a young Uncle Ben in Madame Web. In the very first scene they share the screen, Web goes on to say

“What, you don’t wanna get shot in Queens?”

The fans took to X(formerly Twitter) and voiced their discontent against the writers and also trolled the movie for more absurd dialogues and scenes.

Dakota Johnson also opened up about this dialogue in an interview with Games Radar+ and said,

“We wanted to be honorable of the comics and where she came from. And I think that every hero has a moment where their mentor or someone important to them gives them a line which inspires them on the way and this felt like a nod to where she was from, while also making it hers.”

Madame Web has been a massive critical failure as it has largely received negative reviews from critics and fans. The movie also premiered with a low score of 3.8/10 on IMDB. Madame Web is currently screening in theatres all around the world.
