Miyazaki is always up for new interviews, talking about the different projects in the studio. In an interview with Famitsu, he reveals some key things about the meaning of the name, Shadow of the Erdtree.
Miyazaki was asked about the meaning of the name. He said the following:
“Erdtree refers to the Golden Tree that appears in the main title, so directly interpreting this, the DLC title means the shadow of this golden tree.”
He talked about the Golden Tree being the meaning of the DLC name. Furthermore, he also mentions that the player will follow the steps of Miquella to the Shadow Lands. He confirmed that Shadow of the Erdtree will be in the Shadow Lands almost entirely.
Players will have to figure out many new things
From Software’s director continued talking about the meaning of the Shadow of the Erdtree name and said that players will have to discover another as they are playing the DLC.
This director really enjoys that the players read all the lore and draw their own conclusions; he is not very direct with the story. The Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for Elden Ring will stand as the largest expansion content ever created by the team at From Software, as confirmed by the creator, Hidetaka Miyazaki.
Elden Ring DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, will be available on June 21 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, and PC. This content will be the most expensive expansion ever by From Software, costing $39.99. This DLC will also have a Collector’s Edition with limited units.
