Ranging from Demigods, weapons, NPCs, and much more, Elden Ring is a game that offers many unique elements for its fans to enjoy. Playing the game almost feels like it is never going to end, something which the director, Hidetaka Miyazaki, must have intended from the start.
Furthermore, the upcoming Shadow of the Erdtree DLC does not help the case at all, as the recent gameplay trailer reveals what looks to be an extension of content at a whole different level. Fans have even come up with a theory speculating how a particular enemy shown in the trailer might have more backstory to it than we can think of, drawing power from a concept that existed even before the Greater Will.
How An Upcoming Elden Ring Monster Originates From An Ancient Religion
The enemy we are talking about is the lion-resembling monster shown with horns and multiple hands and arms in the trailer. As speculated by users on social media platforms, there is a possibility that this particular creature is drawing power from the Crucible, a concept and a religion that has existed on The Lands Between even before the influence of the Greater Will.
For those who do not know, Crucible is a primordial ideology where all the man, animals and beasts were one in themselves and had no distinctive feature to themselves, being the closest to nature. Using Crucible incantations in Elden Ring would give a better idea as they grant the player the ability to use body parts of another beast such as a tail, or wings.
The monster is also someone who is expected to be a guardian of an area, most-possibly an entrance to a castle or maybe even a dungeon. One of the most interesting aspects about this creature is how the foot is shown to be like Margott’s foot, and how the horns on its body are similar to that of an Omen’s. Thus hinting at how he might be related to the Demi-god child of Queen Marika and Godfrey.
How A Crucible-Sourced Enemy Might Confirm The Rumored Setting Of Elden Ring’s DLC
It has been a running theory ever since the announcement of Shadow of the Erdtree DLC how the extension is going to be based on the past. Likewise, there are many hints given in the gameplay trailer that hint at this theory being true. The upcoming content will need to be accessed by touching Miquella’s withered arm at Mohgwyn’s Palace in Elden Ring, which is how we will be traveling between The Lands Between and the Land of Shadow, and arguably through time in the same instance.
The official website of the coming DLC confirms how this is the land where Queen Marika first set foot, and became the ruler of the Lands Between. This is also supposed to be a place where there is no influence of the Greater Will, indicating at how the Great Tree showcased of the Land of Shadow is most likely to be a primordial version of the Erdtree.
