While The Lands Between of Elden Ring might be known for its challenging bosses, unique items, and impeccable storyline, nothing comes close to the number of mysteries it brings with itself.

Bearing in mind how there is a never-ending list of questions that remain unanswered in the game, players are quick to come up with theories that might fill some gaps. One such theory was brought to light by this Reddit user, speculating how the NPC Vyke and Morgott might have been companions since the beginning.

How Morgott And Vyke Might Have Been Companions During The Shattering

For added context, Vyke was a tarnished warrior just like our own character and was the closest warrior ever to become an Elden Lord. It is indicated that after almost reaching the Erdtree, he travels away from the capital and is struck by the maddening Frenzied Flame.

The aforementioned user has speculated how Morgott and Vyke might have been companions, especially during the shattering, and supported him in his journey of becoming an Elden Lord. It is allegedly after he fails to become the lord that Morgott believes no one else could become one. The theory also answers how Vyke might have been able to travel to the mountain tops, without defeating the demigod first.

The user also mentions how this theory solves the mystery of how Morgott got to know about the Frenzied Flame and why he sealed it. It is predicted he sealed it off after seeing what it did to Vyke, forbidding anyone else from going through the same fate again.

What Do We Know About The Character Of Vyke In Elden Ring?

The knowledge of his character unfortunately remains limited courtesy of FromSoftware and Hidetaka Miyazaki. However, what we do know is he was once an established member of the Roundtable, and as mentioned before, was the closest ever to becoming an Elden Lord.

Vyke’s significance to the storyline can be showcased just by observing the main cover for the game, which features none other than himself as the point of focus. Many theorists believe that it was the refusal to sacrifice his maiden that he gave up on the opportunity to become the Lord of The Lands Between, but many other speculations can be found online at the same time.

It was also disclosed through item descriptions how he was the most favorable knight of Lansseax, who was the sister of Fortissax and had taken up a human form. Vyke was able to master the art of Dragon Incantations, even earning one to his name, called the Vyke’s Dragonbolt.

Elden Ring is available to purchase on Steam.
