Since its release on April 26, 2024, all Stellar Blade has gotten is high praise from the fans. The action-adventure title from Shift Up is now one of the highest-rated games in PlayStation 5 history, with a Metacritic user score of 9.3, at the time of writing.
However, according to fans, there are important features this game lacks. Some of them are photo mode, sword customization, a veteran-like difficulty mode just like Call of Duty, and many more. But there is one feature that Shift Up needs to add in the next update of Stellar Blade.
Fans Want Surf Challenge Mode in Stellar Blade
Recently, a fan went on to Reddit to express his desired features in Stellar Blade, which the game is still missing out on. The fan has suggested several potential features that he thinks developers should add in the next update. One of them is a surf challenge mode.
A list of things Stellar Blade needs or should do in the next few updates: Do you agree?

Stellar Blade is not a conventional open-world title that has a huge amount of explorable areas. In this game, you have to follow a sequential series of open-ended areas in order to progress. So, the proposed surfing mode outside the story mode would be fun to get far from the main storyline and explore other aspects of the game.
This mode would feature side quests that are not linked to the main campaign missions as a breathing space for fresh air. This could have been a great way of unlocking new rewards as well, which can be influential in the main storyline.
The fan has also proposed other features, like a photo mode; however, he is not the only one who wants this feature badly. On the other hand, the Redditor wants a boss challenge mode, and somehow the Stellar Blade director and Shift Up CEO Hyung-Tae Kim has heard him.
A New Boss Challenge Mode in Stellar Blade
According to Shift Up CEO Hyung-Tae Kim, there is no current plan for any DLC. However, he has also confirmed to Korean outlet Nate that the development team is currently planning for a boss challenge mode instead.
Although there are no specific details about the boss mode or the solid release date of the next update, In other role-playing titles like Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, players hone their skills by taking on a series of bosses in Boss Rush mode.
So, it’s quite predictable that, being an RPG in similar settings as Sekiro, Stellar Blade may also get a mode like this pretty soon in the upcoming update. All we hope is that this update doesn’t come out like the day one update, which pissed off the fans.
