Stellar Blade just came out and players are already having the time of their lives. Shift Up took to social media and thanked the loyal fanbase for their unwavering support to let Sony release the promised version of the game.
The gaming community absolutely abhor what Sony is doing to the South Korean developers and forces them to censor the protagonist more than what was intended. Perhaps the game publisher’s conservative nature is kicking in and clashing with Shift Up’s vision.
Shift Up Thanks Fans for Supporting Stellar Blade
The South Korean developers are stuck between a rock and a hard place after Sony mandated the studio to add a bit more censorship which created massive turmoil within the community. Director Hyung-Tae Kim had his reasons regarding the bold character design and it has appealed to the masses.
"passion & feedback" I hope this is responding the the whole censorship thing. Are you guys aware of the petition started by @Grummz ?

However, Sony wanted the developers to dial it down. Fans took matters into their own hands and created a petition to reverse the decision. It can be upsetting to see a major publisher intervene and cause problems for the players, many are in agreement and wanted to see the overall vision of Shift Up without being tampered.
It is important for this game to be seen and played how it was envisioned by the developers, especially since this is a massive change in direction for the studio. Some suggest that this is an evil scheme for Sony to acquire the developer and is offer players the option to refund the game if they claim false advertising. These are all speculation and conspiracy theories but still far-fetched.
Stellar Blade Fans Are Unhappy With the Censorship
The video game has resonated well with fans because of the fresh and new ideas Shift Up has shared and how it took inspiration from the popular Soulslike genre and the complex combat system. Metacritic user scores were also off the charts and higher than anticipated, making the game the highest rated PlayStation 5 game of all time.
It is safe to assume that the future of Stellar Blade is looking bright and the success of this title could inspire other smaller game developers to take a leap of faith and create more ambitious games. However, the censorship situation should be now remembered as a cautionary tale of how major gaming companies can take away what was promised and offer a different package.
Perhaps this whole issue will be resolved sooner rather than later, given the number of people who signed on the petition and Sony is certainly feeling the heat from the decision that it made. Shift Up has been quiet about the whole situation and it may be for good reason.
Sony is making a lot of enemies by this one change and it is proof that fans do not like being lied to. Would you like to play the uncensored version of Stellar Blade? Let us know in the comments below!
