Hidetaka Miyazaki’s 2015 game, Bloodborne, is often cited as one of the best Soulslike games of all time but still, it lacked some elements that could’ve drastically improved the gaming experience. While there are a number of things players wanted to see in the game, there is one particular thing that everyone wished Bloodborne had: a map. While navigating the Gothic world of Yharnam, it would certainly be handy if players were provided with a map or a guidebook.

Unfortunately, a sequel of Bloodborne isn’t something that is entirely in the hands of Hidetaka Miyazaki. In the past, he has hinted that he “sees the possibility” of adding more. At the moment, Miyazaki is more focused on giving fans the Elden Ring‘s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, which is coming out on June 21st, 2024.

Many gamers feel like Bloodborne should’ve had a map

Bloodborne met all the set expectations in terms of its worldbuilding. While it doesn’t entirely qualify as an open-world game, it provides players with an open space with linear-style gameplay. Many gamers might agree that a map isn’t necessarily required, but some sort of guidebook would’ve certainly helped while navigating the world of Yharnam, as many players often found themselves cluelessly running around.

Bloodborne‘s world of Yharnam is an extensive map full of interconnected areas and the worldbuilding was one of the main reasons why the game was praised. It is no secret that Hidetaka Miyazaki loves to take feedback from the players to work on those elements in his future games, so hopefully, in the future, he will fix these problems in a Bloodborne sequel.

Is Hidetaka Miyazaki interested in working on Bloodborne 2?

In a past interview with GameSpot, FromSoftware’s director, Hidetaka Miyazaki explained that there are some elements of the game that he wished to improve. He said (via NeoGaf),

“I try not to think too much about which elements I’d improve after shipping a game. But I’d have improved on the Chalice Dungeons and the Blood Gems, that I wish were a bit more detailed, worked more thoroughly. I see the possibility of adding more to it.”

It is to be noted that Miyazaki further added that Bloodborne 2 isn’t his decision, but judging by his statement, it’s quite evident that he would love to work on a sequel in the future. Despite their challenging nature, FromSoftware’s Soulslike games are quite popular among the gaming community.
