FromSoftware has been behind the development of some of the most iconic games like Dark Souls, Demon’s Souls, Bloodborne, and Elden Ring. However, out of all of these, Bloodborne has been very close to the hearts of the fans, and the game which came out in 2015 still has a dedicated player base.
As such, dedicated fans of the game have been demanding the developers to come up with something new from the IP throughout the years. Many have demanded a PC port, remake, or even a full-fledged sequel of Bloodborne. These demands have also given rise to many rumors however, according to some recent developments, it looks like fans need to wait longer to get a sequel of the game.
Hidetaka Miyazaki can adopt a Devil May Cry approach for Bloodborne
The adaptations of video games to the big screen have not always been a good fit, however, looking at some recent trends things do seem to have changed. Much of this credit goes to Netflix which has been producing animated series based on iconic game franchises.
Capcom’s Devil May Cry franchise is a great example of such kind of adaptation. This is because Netflix is making a new animated series based on the hit game franchise which is set to come out in 2024.
Although Bloodborne fans have been demanding more video game content for the fan-favorite title, following the path of Devil May Cry and transitioning to an anime series with Netflix is also a viable option for Hidetaka Miyazaki. Moreover, expanding the IP of the game in this manner seems reasonable in light of the demands of the fans.
FromSoftware’s game is in the same genre as the Devil May Cry franchise and has previously been adapted into other forms including a graphic novel series. Therefore, it would make a lot of sense for the developers to collaborate with Netflix and come out with exciting content for fans.
Bloodborne was well-received by critics with praises for its gameplay, ambiance, sound design, Lovecraftian themes, and interwoven game world. All of these would transition well into an animated series that could captivate fans on the big screens. Additionally, just like any other FromSoftware games’, Bloodborne also has its own unique share of iconic characters and lore which makes it a good fit for the screens.
Hidetaka Miyazaki’s response to Bloodborne 2
Hidetaka Miyazaki the director of FromSoftware finally came out to take out the highly requested sequel of the game. During an exclusive interview with Eurogamer recently, Miyazaki acknowledged the requests of fans, and thanked them for the love they have shown for the game.
He added, “It is a title we hold very dear and just as much as our fans. It does make me very happy to see that there are still so many people passionate about it.” During the interview he was asked about the elephant in the room i.e. Bloodborne 2, however, his response might disappoint the fans.
He avoided answering the question about the possibility of a remake. He did, however, mention that players may get to see a remake of Bloodborne only if there are significant improvements in game development hardware. Since Bloodborne runs efficiently on PS5, a sequel to the game isn’t coming any time soon.
