“Most scared I’ve ever been”: John Krasinski is Most Petrified of Showing the IF Movie to His Two Critics Who Are the Hardest to Please

John Krasinski’s recent film, IF, has taken the internet by storm. The film has had fans extremely excited ever since its trailer was released, not only because of its excellent premise but also because of the cast it collected. On top of the director himself, the project stars Ryan Reynolds, Emily Blunt, Steve Carell, and even Brad Pitt. While these aspects are certainly attractive, there is a lot more that comes with making a movie.

One of the biggest trials and challenges in filmmaking is for a director to impress critics. When Krasinski was making his film, it was no different for him. However, many would be surprised by the critics he feared the most.

John Krasinski Is Most Nervous About His Children Seeing IF

John Krasinski recently gave an interview with Collider where he talked about his thought processes during the final stages of production for IF. He was specifically asked if he was more nervous about the studio to see the finished product of his film, or his children.

Interestingly enough, he picked the latter of the options, revealing that he was more afraid of his children seeing the film he made and almost posing them as critics. He started by revealing that his children had yet to see the project. This aspect made him quite nervous, as he desperately wanted them to see the film he made.

My kids haven’t seen it yet. They’re seeing it either tonight or tomorrow, and it is going to be, without a doubt, the most scared I’ve ever been to show anyone anything in my life, ever. 

The kids are the ones that I’m most looking forward to their review.

One of the biggest reasons Krasinski made the film was because he made it for their entertainment.

John Krasinski Had His Kids’ Help

John Krasinski has famously only dabbled in horror and action, so moving to children’s films was a big change. When he was making IF, it is safe to say he had a lot of guidance for a lot of different people. However, it would seem that the ones he gave the most heed to were his children.

The actor went on to reveal in the interview that his children helped him quite a lot when he was making his recently released project. He would often approach them with concepts and sketches of how he wanted the project to look.

This was very exciting to bring them in from the very beginning. So I pitched them the idea, the terrible drawings I was doing. I would show them, and they would get involved. 

Over time, the faint vision turned into an entire film, and his children got a front seat to the entire process. With this, he was very excited for them to see the very final product and give him their seal of approval.

The actor mentioned that a lot of decisions about the specificities of the movie were taken by them, and he would not have it any other way.

IF is now in theaters.
