Even though The Office ended its legendary run on NBC 11 years ago, the show remains one of the most renowned and hilarious TV Series. The sitcom show was based on the UK show of the same name, and it was solid enough to become a fan-favorite series when it first aired back in 2005. During the 9 seasons of the show, it created a massive fan following by featuring hilarious situations and how it can repeatedly be watched without the viewer ever getting bored.

Indeed, The Office occupies a special place in the sitcom genre. However, fans of the show would be stunned to know that a new series inspired by the 2005 show has been picked up by Peacock and it will not feature the original show’s stars, Steve Carell and John Krasinski.

The Office-Inspired Show Takes Place Without Its Main Cast

NBC’s The Office was a great sitcom show that mocked the stereotypical nature of office culture and societal norms. Through its mockumentary format, the series often satirized the corporate bureaucracy and monotonous workplace rituals. But what made the TV Series create a special place in the hearts of its viewers is the warmth that comes along with the show.

The Series’ massive success is the result of its iconic cast and two iconic faces of the show, Steve Carell and John Krasinski. The cringe actions of Michael Scott made the fans laugh uncontrollably, and the romance of Jim Halpert, and Pam Beesly is something that the viewers can never get enough of.

Now, Variety reports that a new iteration of The Office is taking place by Peacock. The show will neither be a reboot nor a spinoff of the 2005 show, but it will be altogether a new mockumentary show featuring a brand new cast.

The news outlet shared the official logline that stated,

“The documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch is in search of a new subject when they discover a dying historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it with volunteer reporters.”

The news is not taken well among the fans of the original series as the new show will not feature the original cast of the show who played a major role in its success.

Fans Are Furious Over Peacock’s The Office-Inspired Show

The news was shared by Pop Base (@PopBase) on X, where they reported that the new show will be revolving around a daily newspaper with a brand-new cast. This information did not go well with the fans of the NBC show because a show inspired by the original series would not feature old faces such as Brian Baumgartner, Jenna Fischer, Oscar Nunez, Rainn Wilson, and many more.

As a result, fans are furious and bash the show on social media for their not-so-original concept of the show.

Even though it is too early to comment on how the show will perform, creating a show following the premises of the original show can invite failure as the fans might not be convinced by the plot and the characters.

Meanwhile, The Office can be streamed on Peacock.
