The Office costars Steve Carell and John Krasinski got emotional after meeting again ever since their last scene together in the show. They are partnering up for a new project directed by Krasinski, which makes it more special because he had his friend on his mind while writing the script.
The film also stars Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds. All three of them working on a movie is something fans have never expected but have always wanted. IF is a live-action/animated fantasy comedy film that also features Cailey Fleming, Fiona Shaw, Alan Kim, Liza Colón-Zayas, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Louis Gossett Jr.
John Krasinski On Reuniting With The Office Costar Steve Carell
In his interview with Total Film via SlashFilm, actor John Krasinski recalled how challenging it was for him to move from working in a television series to making his own films.
“It’s very hard to step outside of your comfort zone — all the way from The Office, to deciding to do a genre movie.”
Apart from IF, he also helmed the hit horror movie A Quiet Place. Krasinski revealed he already thought of Steve Carell joining the band as he had the actor in mind while drafting the dialogues. Surely, he helmed the character after his friend: “He is a person that you just want to run up to and hug, and that’s exactly what Blue is.”
Upon meeting, Krasinski and Carell could not help but express how they miss one another. All the more when the latter acknowledged the director’s efforts and felt very privileged to be part of the team.
“As much fun as it was to work with him, the most powerful part about it was he came in with the most heartfelt speech about how proud he is of me to be making movies. He said in reading the script, ‘I’m just so honored to be a part of it. I’ll do whatever it takes.’ ”
Krasinski thought he would just be laughing and having a good time that day, but he ended up crying a lot.
Fans Are Delighted To See Another Krasinski-Carell Collaboration
In his interview with Entertainment Weekly, Krasinski could not help but gush over the fact that he is reunited with fellow The Office star.
“Oh my God, The Office reunion we’ve all been waiting for is in it. The truth is, Steve’s one of the most talented people on the planet. So whether I had ever worked with him before or not, I would’ve been gunning for him because I just had his voice in my head when I was writing Blue.”
Fans are also ecstatic to witness this wholesome reunion between Krasinski and Carell. Check out their tweets below:
