Glen Powell is perfectly acing his game in Hollywood two decades after starting his career, thanks to his recent pieces that have finally granted him his breakthrough: Everybody Wants Some!! and Top Gun: Maverick. But while people know him now, they don’t know how 2 actors from Avengers: Endgame accidentally helped him transform into the massive superstar he is today.
These two stars were none other than two of the three Chrises in the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Chris Pratt and Chris Hemsworth. Through the development of their roles, the duo reportedly greatly inspired Powell to mold himself in a way that everyone would love him. And that most certainly seems to have worked, considering how Powell is the star everyone is talking about today!
These 2 Avengers: Endgame Actors Inspired Glen Powell Immensely
Back when Glen Powell was still trying to navigate through Hollywood to catch roles that could launch him to success and stardom, some franchises that particularly caught his notice as ones that could give him his breakthrough role were the MCU and the Star Wars lore.
However, while things didn’t really work out for him in those superhero roles (he auditioned but didn’t get selected), he eventually ended up learning from two actors from the superhero saga who actually reached extraordinary heights of success as their characters developed in the MCU.
The first of these actors was Chris Pratt, who plays the role of Peter Quill aka Star-Lord in the Guardians of the Galaxy team of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And the way he inspired Powell was simply through the introduction of his goofy hero in the superhero world.
Powell shared in an interview with GQ how Pratt’s first appearance in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy as Quill was “a major turning point” in the way he approached his roles because of how his hero induced a shift in the genre which was previously led by Christian Bale‘s broody Batman.
Then there was another actor from the Marvel Cinematic Universe who greatly influenced Powell’s way of tackling the leading man of the story as well: Chris Hemsworth. His goofy transition as a superhero came in 2017 through the fan-favorite masterpiece Thor: Ragnarok.
As Powell explained, understanding this very shift in the behavioral composition of the leading man greatly affected his interpretation of the industry and made him realize that this impression that the Chris duo left behind was a mold he could actually fit right in.
According to what the Top Gun: Maverick actor expressed during his interview with GQ while talking about Pratt and Hemsworth:
These guys can take a punch and sell a joke. I feel like that’s when I started catching friction on the sidewalk.
Well, that point is most certainly understandable, especially when considering the chemistry the duo in their respective superhero roles shared in the 2019 blockbuster, Avengers: Endgame, with their playful banter but remarkable seriousness at the same time.
However, these two weren’t the only ones that helped Powell understand the mechanism of how the entertainment industry worked even better; he also shared how The Batman actor Robert Pattinson contributed to this insight as well.
Glen Powell was Influenced by Robert Pattinson as well
While looking at Pratt and Hemsworth helped him understand the gradual shift in how the characters were starting to become and be liked by the audience, Pattinson made Powell realize that a lot of “in vogue” actors helped in this change through their respective performances as well.
As per what the Everybody Wants Some!! actor continued to share in his interview with GQ:
I really do feel like a lot of Hollywood is which actors are in vogue. What everybody does is end up writing to that thing. All of a sudden, when Robert Pattinson pops off, they’re like, ‘We want a brooding Pattinson type.’ You see it in every script.
That said, finally comprehending this influence helped Glen Powell develop an understanding of how he was going to approach his next leading man role. And, as fans are already seeing, it most definitely worked, considering how Powell’s name is one that is nearly on every other person’s lips.
