Bill Skarsgård, fourth of the Skarsgård clan, broke into the mainstream with his incredible portrayal of Stephen King’s beloved clown, Pennywise. Starring in the movie adaptation of King’s acclaimed horror novel It, Skarsgård has since achieved widespread acclaim thanks to his many roles across different genres.
Yet, fans are not done getting enough of the actor as Pennywise and still want him to reprise the role someday. Hence, many of them were left disappointed when he was not named as one of the cast in the upcoming It prequel, Welcome to Derry. However, Skarsgård might have just spoilt his return in a recent interview.
Bill Skarsgård Might Have Spoiled his Return as Pennywise
Bill Skarsgård is a fantastic actor and the way he portrayed Pennywise in the two It movies has been truly remarkable. His performance added a new dimension to the character, and it is no surprise that fans are eager to see him reprise the role.
When Andy Muschietti‘s Welcome to Derry series was announced, also an origin story for Pennywise, fans were expecting Skarsgård would reprise his role. However, he has neither been named a cast member nor has it been revealed if he would make an appearance in the series.
But in a recent interview with Esquire, the actor might have just given a spoiler that confirms he might be appearing in the HBO series. As per the interview, the actor was soon heading to Toronto to film his next project, which coincidentally is also where the two It movies were filmed. When asked about what the role is, he stated,
I don’t want to spoil it.
Surprisingly, when Madison Vain of Esquire reached out to Muschietti a few days later, he too was in Toronto. Having asked Skarsgård if he would be willing to play Pennywise again and whether he had any discussions about it, he had just replied, maybe.
A potential spoiler, even fans believe that Bill Skarsgård has spoiled his return.
Fans Believe Bill Skarsgård Will Be in Welcome to Derry
Bill Skarsgård is neither involved nor starring in the upcoming It prequel series, Welcome to Derry, as per official reports. An extremely private person, who has successfully managed to keep his personal life off of Hollywood’s tabloids, Skarsgård might have spoiled his return to the world of It already.
As his suspiciously ambiguous comments regarding his shooting schedule went viral, even fans are convinced that he will at least make a cameo appearance in Welcome to Derry.
Hahah that’s gotta be a yes. Would make no sense for him to not want to return given the MASSIVE success of the character and movies.

Didn't he technically already spoiled it? By just saying that

He's the best Pennywise of all, plus it's hardly been that long since he played that clown. I think he can do it again in a heart beat

Although it is possible it might not even be Welcome to Derry that he is filming, there is nonetheless a possibility that he could make a surprise appearance or be involved in future projects related to the It universe.
Regardless, Bill Skarsgård’s portrayal of Pennywise has left a lasting impression and has solidified his place as one of the most memorable characters in modern horror cinema.
Welcome to Derry will premiere on Max next year. The It movies can be streamed on Amazon Prime.
