The Star Wars franchise’s topsy-turvy journey throughout the years has been well-known by fans. The original trilogy was beloved by all, but the prequel trilogy was not as well received. Much hate has been given to the incoherent plot, boring characters, and inferior special effects of the prequel films.

However, retrospective reviews have looked back fondly on the films, and fans have reiterated how innovative some of the elements in them were. With The Acolyte soon coming out, the show’s lead star’ Amandla Stenberg’s unexpected answer about her favorite Star Wars film, shows her in-depth knowledge of the franchise and her ability to appreciate

With the modern trilogy of Star Wars films being very divisive, the Star Wars franchise continued to go back to the past with its shows as it provided a lot more exciting opportunities. The prequel trilogy especially created many exciting elements within the lore of the franchise, and the upcoming The Acolyte series also goes even deeper, taking place 100 years before The Phantom Menace.
Among the prequel trilogy involving The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, and Revenge of the Sith, the latter was the most loved, which reminded fans of the glory of the original trilogy. Amidst the divisive nature of the prequel trilogy, Revenge of the Sith indeed stands out as something great about them.
The Acolyte‘s lead star Amandla Stenberg was recently asked about her favorite Star Wars film. Much to everyone’s surprise, she went for the most unexpected choice and said Revenge of the Sith. Fans were appreciative of Stenberg’s unique choice, and those who felt the same as the actress also voiced their love for the third episode of the Star Wars franchise on X,

Unlike her co-star Charlie Barnett, who was criticized for making huge blunders in his comments about Anakin (and being called a fake fan), Stenberg has extensively talked about various elements of the franchise that have appealed to her. Revenge of the Sith was an edgy and more character-driven prequel film with some thrilling action (but remained largely unnoticed due to the maligned reputation of the prequel film).
The thrilling General Grievous fight and the intimidating portrayal of Palpatine were a joy to watch. The film also created a seamless transition to A New Hope, with Anakin turning to the dark side. Stenberg, recognizing this, makes her a pure Star Wars fan who has carefully watched and analyzed the franchise. Her entry into the franchise as a lead in The Acolyte has been a dream come true for her.
The Acolyte Was Inspired By Great Action Cinema For Its Action Sequences

The Acolyte is the next Star Wars offering coming to Disney+ very soon. The trailer of the series showed some incredible action between its lead Amandla Stenberg with Jedi masters played by Lee Jung-jae and Carrie-Anne Moss. In an interview with ScreenRant, Stenberg stated how she and showrunner Leslye Headland had similar admiration for action gems that were influences on the show (Kill Bill, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, and Seven Samurai).
She trained extensively in martial arts and Kung Fu for the hand-to-hand combat scenes in the series. The training made her learn so much about herself while also claiming how the fights add to the overall tone of the show. Stenberg said,
When Lesley first presented this project to me, we discovered that we have a lot of the same favorite movies, including Kill Bill, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Seven Samurai, and Donny Darko. I trained with my master Jian Cheng Lu, and he was incredibly patient and kind with me, and it was such a deeply rewarding, enjoyable experience. I learned so much about myself, and I think that it just really befits the tone of the show very well. It’s a very definitive part of the show.
In addition to Stenberg, Lee, and Moss, the show also stars Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Charlie Barnett, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Dean-Charles Chapman, and Joonas Suotamo. The Acolyte will premiere on Disney+ on June 4, 2024, with two episodes, with the remaining 6 dropping weekly till July 16, 2024.
